Does anyone know what this light means, and don’t say a warning . A warning of what?

Perhaps you could state what base vehicle it is (Peugeot Boxer etc) and the year, may get answers from folk with the same base vehicle.

Yes Stephen exclamation, it’s a Fiat 2018, not long left home and just noticed it, contacting Fiat is a waste of space.

Possible oil pressure sensor - try turning the ignition off then on again. If it's been cold overnight it might just be thinking it's got an issue, I'm sure we had it occasionally on other MHs/campers but nothing ever came of it.

When the engine is cool check the oil level.

Not very helpful but I found this
Description: The triangle containing an exclamation mark is the general fault / failure warning light. This generic warning light may come on along with another warning light and/or a warning message. They include:
• Engine oil pressure sensor failure
• Speed limit set warning
• External lights failure
• Fuel cut-off system failure
• Parking sensor failure
• Start Stop system failure
• Airbag fault issues

Do you know anyone with an OBD port fault finder

I can’t get oil cap off but it’s not been leaking on drive, van was fine when I brought it home 3 weeks ago.

Have you got a sloping drive? I ask cos our new Ducato shows low oil if parked on the drive but the oil is bang on the mark. It goes out after a run.

I would follow Langtoftlad's advice. Modern vehicles have complex computerised systems, the good thing is they try to tell you something is wrong, an OBDII reader can ask the computer for more information on the fault. All garages will have one now, does not need to be Fiat, just ask them to read the 'fault codes' from your van. You can get your own reader from Halfords or similar, well worth owning as you can use it on your car as well.

OBDII On board diagnostics, version 2.
OBDII Reader, a small fag packet sized device that plugs into your diagnostic port. This will be in reach of the driver, perhaps under a flap or under the dashboard, Google your vehicle for the location.

It doesn't have to leak, it might simply have been just at the minimum level and now the oil has cooled it may have dropped just below it - you need to check the oil level - use the dipstick.

Switch on and watch the read out display, it may flash up, very briefly why you have the orange light.

Not really sloping, ever so slightly. I think if it’s not telling me to stop I will drive it and see what happens.
The 5 miles is lifted today David.👍

I should have remembered from your where are you going Friday thread

can’t even get my haircut here yet

will walk out to get a lottery ticket for the syndicate though

enjoy your weekend away, presuming the warning isn’t serious 👍

Same thing happens occasionally with my wife's Smart car. Checking on the forums it seems the most common cause is a failure to screw the fuel cap back on tightly enough after filling up with petrol. Bingo! Unscrew the cap and screw it back on, light goes off, works every time. Don't know if this applies to Fiats though but it might be worth checking the owners forums to see if there are any simple fixes?

I had the same warning triangle about 3 times up until March this year. It did go out after 4 or 5 engine starts. I checked al the usual items mentioned in previous posts and also water in the fuel filter which was on the list in the manual. I noticed when this happened the oil level display circles did come on when the ignition is turned. The oil level on the dipstick was at the top mark. After I had it serviced the level was just below the top mark and the oil level display had returned. Ive done a few hundred miles since and the warning triangle has not reappeared. Hope this helps.

Seems to be two threads running on this problem, so that's two of you that cannot get a definite answer as the amber warning triangle hints toward so many items that need checking. If its not shown on the OBD port with a reader, or confirmed by Fiat that there are no fault codes showing, then I guess all we can do is go through the listed problems in the manual and cross them off one by one.
Good luck, very annoying problem to have, look forward to hearing what the actual cause was.
Too many sensors on these modern vehicles these days, mostly emission control devices at that!
