John has an urgent medical appointment in Sheffield next week. We're staying in Buxton and planned to go to the Nunnery Square Park and Ride and get a taxi to the docs at Sharrow Lane, S2 5DH.
I've just noticed that there is a height restriction at the P&R.
Seems mad if motorhomers can't use the P&R to visist.
Any ideas please of anywhere else that's not too far away.
Thanks
Steph

Sometimes you press buzzer or ring number at entrance and they will raise barrier for you ... Don't know if true for Sheffield though.

Don't know if this a help or not but it's what I would look in to, can you catch a bus from Buxton, probably be one that would drop you near the hospital, and depending how old you are , you could use your bus pass and go for nothing.

Sheffield don't man their park and rides

Just checked a few and ALL Sheffield Park and Rides have barriers
But the lower levels at MeadowHell and Crystal Peaks don't if that could help

The campsite said there aren't any buses. A taxi would be £60 each way.
I wondered about Meadowhall but thought it might be a very bisuy shopping centre. I'll have to look in to it.
Going to pm TheTwoOfUs and Ram but please keep your suggestions going. Thanks a lot.

I don't know if the appointment is at the hospital, our local hospital will let Motorhomes park around the back using the service road. Worth a phone call?

Thanks but it's a private clininc and they have limited parking.

Steph and John.
Chatsworth house has day parking For its visitors to the grounds, as well as an adjoining C&MC site. We were looking to visit our grandson but never got to doing it for obvious reasons. The bus company has a bus that stops in the car park direct into Sheffield. Timings may be the issue for you. You will need to check there are no Covid changes to routes/timings.

I sent you a PM but I’ll give a quick answer here. I will have to check but I think you could park on the side of the street on Sharrow Vale Road. Another alternative might be The Three Merry Lads which allows overnight parking and isn’t that far from Sharrow. A quick phone call to them explaining your position might see them let you park there, especially if you promise to have a meal there.

I'd have thought Meadow Hall was a good bet. Yes busy shopping area but the car park is huge. Also train into city centre and plenty of busses.

We've parked there in the past (TML). It's a good spot.

There arent any height barriers at sheffield arena, they are covid jabbing there at the moment,so theres plenty of parking, then you could bus /train /taxi to where you want to be :) just ring a taxi and get picked up from arena ,sorry i cant be of better help,i dont know which hospital you are going to , best of luck pampam

Ps the arena is along the same road as meadowhall but towards city centre, and doesnt have levels for parking

Have you got the correct post code? S2 5DH is the police HQ just off the Parkway and is nowhere near Sharrow Lane?

Is it the Barn Clinic? If it is it is on Sharrow Lane and there is on street parking.

Maybe ....... Call and ask Towsure in Sheffield. Might let you use their car park or offer advice?

What size is your motorhome?

Im fairly sure you will be able to park close on to Sharrow Lane .. somewhere around Nether Edge which is close by .. Rundle Road or the like.

Agree...you should be able to find parking nearby...this area is mainly residential.

Bit confused over the postcode and sharrow lane as don't seem to be the same place. The sharrow lane I'm thinking of is the other side of Sheffield to the postcode.
Unless it's changed since last year there plenty of free parking along Kenwood Hall road, wide road with parking either side.

Kenwood Rd

Nether Edge

Sheffield

S7 1NQ

A little further away plenty of parking along the roadside of Osbourne road and other roads around the Netheredge area.

It's the Barn Clinic S11 8AC.
We were there last week (drove there by car) and a lot of the roads are residents only parking by permit.

I thought it might be easier to do Park and Ride rather than risk not being able to park. but now realise that's not an option in the motorhome.
It's further complicated because he's getting treatment for a foot problem which seem to have gone wrong and is now worse than before and very, very painful to walk on.

There's the kenwood hall hotel along the road I've suggested, you'd most likely be able to get a taxi to pick you up from their gates then drop you back of there again, never went inside the hotel grounds but guessing there's plenty of parking inside, perhaps give them a ring. But as I said when we were there last year there's we're no restrictions along the kenwood road itself. What ever time of the day I walked it there always seemed to be plenty of parking along either side.

Google seems to show that there are no restrictions on parking on the road outside the barn clinic. Maybe a phone call to ask them if that's still the case?

To all those suggesting Meadowhell, they now have a patrol going round the car parks and together with CCTV they are fining people who park there and then go elsewhere. This had become a regular thing to do for some as you can park there for free and then jump on the tram into the city centre.
I also looked at Sharrow Lane via Google Earth which seemed to suggest that you could park there but I'm not sure how long ago that was mapped by them, especially in light of the fact that the OP said that they were there recently and it was resident permits only.

Thank you everyone for all your helpful suggestions.
john's foot seems to be getting better and we're a little hopeful he won't need to go back to the clinic.
It's wonderful knowing funsters are out there if help is needed.
