Evening people

Long story short. We are currently down at Brean Farm Burnham on sea. We left our 2015 Rapido 9048 for literally 5 minutes and shut the door , both keys inside with ALL paper work and it has locked down.We are now locked out with no access

We are insured with AIB as advertised on here , but unfortunately all the emergency numbers are on the documents in the VAN !

Can any one with the same insurance please confirm any emergency numbers.

Thanks in advance for any help

Up date... lockers and everything shut. Have owned this van for 1 1/2 years no problem with locking etc.
Still locked out and taking refuge in a neighbour's van.
Just need some emergency numbers on the AIB policy...

Is the one Chaser quoted a couple of posts ago no good?

Had a look on their website & did some Googling but couldn't find any numbers other than the daytime number above & ringing that doesn't give any emergency number either. Sorry never insured with them so don't have any documents to check. Hopefully if you keep bumping this someone will come along shortly.

Sorry to hear about this. Stressful but I'm sure you'll soon get it sorted. So, did your alarm auto rearm?

I can’t find an emergency number anywhere online.Number given by chaser is the only one online. Think you may have to call out local garage/Aa/RAC
I’ve sent a pm to the AIB person who posted earlier today. Sorry I can’t think of anything else.
Nothing open on the roof ?

Do you have breakdown cover with RAC or similar that might be your best option ?

Delayed post as I posted on the AIB thread first by mistake ?

If only you could find some plastic wedges for the door and a long bit of sturdy wire with a hook on the end...
Wedge top of door out a little, insert wire, hook door handle and boom you're back in the van.
Won't be deadlocked.

ooh secrets!! :p
Another way to break in but didn't want to post on open forum - maybe you should edit your post as never know who is reading?!

If you need to get inside quickly - just pull on one of the windows and the window catches should bend or snap. Found this out following a forced entry made on a friends motorhome and it seems to be well known so not giving away any secrets here.

People that break into cars "professionally" lol know more ways than I could EVER post about.
If you think the dumb oiks that do this sort of stuff for **** and giggles would be reading a forum full of grumpy old men on how to break in, I think you are sadly mistaken.
Those that don't know how to break in are too dumb to operate a keyboard.. and would just bend the top of your door down to get in anyway. :D

Update....
Sorted .....Horray

AA man initially looked baffled, but then produced an array of thickish wire.
Kitchen sliding window lock, EASILY compromised, longer wire taped to broom handle ......keys fished out of window.

U RIKA........nearly kissed the AA man...lol but why oh why did the bloody van lock down, haven’t got a clue.

Any suggestions I would very much appreciate, but will seek the services of an auto lock smith / Fiat to get to the bottom of it.

Besides being a very stressful moment, it just showed and proved how easy it is to gain access if you put your mind to it.

Time to eat now, and a very big thank you to everyone that offered support and suggestions.

I don't know...

But we often sit outside our van in the evenings, with the van door closed.

And the keys on the shelf inside!

I think I'll stop doing this....

Time to buy a magnetic keybox and a spare key and maybe some anti theft window catches now you've seen how easy that is. ;)
Wouldn’t the anti theft catches have just prevented friendly AA man getting in without damage.
As you say in your post above, the scroates will just break the window anyway.

There is an insurance available against being locked out, I use it .............

I always keep my keys in my pocket , sorted.

OK there’s always a smart arse

Glad you’re in ok (y)

Yeah no one likes a smart arse ?

Great news. My Autowatch 695 alarm auto re-armed on me the other day as I was walking away from the van. Fortunately I had my keys in my pocket. I have an appointment on Monday to have the auto re-arm feature permanently disabled. Similar alarm?

I locked some keys in my car once. It happened because the car had an auto re lock feature. if the car is unlocked and the door isn't opened for a minute it relocks.

I unlocked the car and put the keys on the dash, when the door closed gently, it didn't close properly so the car thought it had never been opened and after a minute... CLICK! ?

Maybe the door wasn't closed properly before I opened it too, so the computer thought "1 munute".... "no change"... "relock"

Got back in by pulling the top of the door open a bit, threading a thick piece of wire through and carefully pressing the open button on the key ?

There are quiet ways into vehicles and there is the bull in a china shop..
If your MH is parked outside your house and / or you are inside it asleep... I don't think they'll be choosing the bull in a china shop method. :)

The idea is to secure it better but have a get out clause. As suggested, a key hidden in a box underneath for emergencies.

Sounds like you have some sort of auto-lock activated on your alarm or vehicle locking ... might be worth having a read of the relevant handbooks!
