We go off to France skiing on Monday morning
I normally check everything well in advance but our son has had a whistle stop tour home from Australia
We took him to the airport last night
Today I am checking the van over
I drained it down well before the cold spell.
Today filled it with water purged the system
Our Truma C6002 EH heating hot water system
ignited on gas
I set it to Gas hot water heat up
No problem water got very hot

However when I set it to heating and hot water it blew for a few minutes
Then shuts off and red light comes on
Plenty of gas
Batteries fully charged

Anyone any idea please
I am already cursing myself for leaving it so late

The vent is clear of snow
When you switch it to heating mode it is making a slightly different noise
a quiet flappy poppy noise in the burner area.
Then switches off and red light come on
The gas is propane

Lack of gas pressure?
Warm the regulator with hot towel in case of moisture icing?
Try a different cylinder?

Good luck

It did happen to me when I had to take my motorhome to the clinic for my mum to stay next to my Dad and it was mid December. I started the boiler alright but fridge and heater wouldn't start. Plenty of gas too, but .... it was cold outside. So I decided to heat up the van a bit , and...it worked fine! After an hour or so with the hot fan next to the van's heater ...gentle pop ... and .... yeepiii ! You can try that , it might work, especially if last time you used it, it worked alright

thanks yodeli
The fridge started no problem
just the burner on the TRUMA on heating mode
does anyone know a YOU tube vid that shows how to access the burner?

Are you on hook up when away?

If so at least you can still go and not worry

Maybe a stupid question but you are using propane gas?

Does the hob work ok at full chat

Hi David
not on hook up at the place we planned to go
and even though it works on mains
not really enough heat coming out on mains to fight off minus 20 degrees

serendipitous
yep
it's propane

What does the manual have to say about flashing red lights?

have you done a search on the net, it pulls up all sorts of info re error codes including a lot of posts made through this forum lol

the trumatic we have does not have a display panel so no error codes shown
just the red light on the dial

the lights not flashing just goes to red

Gas problem in the manual
but not specific just check supply
check vents clear etc
All of which I have done

The Truma boiler has its own gas supply, so the cooker and fridge will not tell you much. If it were possible to leave a fan heater or oil rad in overnight, it should be enough to clear any question of the gas supply icing up.
A call to a Truma agent may offer alternative solutions.

We had the same problem last year and in our case it turned out to be a faulty gas valve in the Truma.

Your unit will have a combined 2kw and a 4kw valve and it was one of these that was sticking closed on mine, hence the fault code throwing up a gas supply problem.

I hope you get it fixed soon,

Andrew

What does the manual have to say about flashing red lights?
Two problems asking that question ...

1. his idea of flashing red lights isn't to do with boilers (well not that type anyway!)

2. when did a man ever read a manual!!!!

:D

Seriously, I think you're just gonna have to get your shovel out tomorrow and try heating up the reg etc to see if it sorts it, a hob and fridge won't need as much gas as a heater so that could explain why they work and the Truma doesn't.

Check hob works ok on gas a full chat = confirms pressure reg working ok. Check heater gas tap on, check all connectors etc into trauma unit and controller fully home.

We had trouble with rj11 plug at trauma had to cut off and replace.

Try several times if you've replaced gas bottle to confirm no air.

Listen to unit, does fast fan run for boiler purge , then slows down for ignition. Can you hear the tick of the ignition .

Another stupid thought, weather cover is removed?

We had this Truma setup on our previous PVC and it would do the same thing and we found it was the hab battery voltage dropping and it does not take much of a voltage drop for our Truma heating to fail.

Try running the engine and see if the alternator giving the voltage a kick gets it going to prove the point.

rosalan

We have had a 60w bulb on under the boiler for the last few weeks
We have 4 leisure batteries so doubt if that's the problem
however will try ALL suggestions tomorrow
