At about 9pm we realised the fridge was not freezing although the blue light indicated that the gas on, and all electrics were at that time .
This morning 7.30am started to fill up the kettle all the electrics went off. Van started ok but still no electricity. The Carthago Malibou is just nine months old. To make things worst we are in “aire” at Marbella Spain.

Two days ago we hit a VERY big pothole. Did a visual check but could see no damage and everything was working ok. Although as the fridge was frozen as we had been driving for some time we are not sure how long the fridge was not working.?

Suggestions please

Only one reason at this moment I can think why the fridge/freezer is not freezing is that we were on slight slope, but I thought with modern f/f that would make no difference? And never had this problem before.

As the power is now on, the issue being resolved by switching the control panel on and off i’d think that it just tripped out. I can’t see it being down to the slope you’re on.

The problem with a slope usually only affects the gas flame as it will always burn upright so an angle on the van means the flame is by passing the heating element (On the fridge)
If I’m wrong I apologise.

The adsorption fridge has a a gas/fluid and a boiler if run off level for some time the boiler can boil dry and stop working, this is why they often start to work again if turned upside down, it makes no difference what power is in use at the time. The newer fridges are far less prone to this that the older ones

Is it on gas? Can you feel any heat at the top vent?

Thanks for all your help but there still is one major problem the fridge / freezer part of the fridge is not going below zero on our thermometer . The five blue lights shows that it maximum and another blue shoes is on auto and another shows it is on gas as we are now stationary. Took the outer grill off found it hot inside, so I take it there must something I am missing.

A lot of people, including myself, have found that they sometimes work better if on a low - medium setting rather than set high. Try turning the setting for the fridge down and see if that changes anything.

If the top vent is hot then the gas is burning, if the van is somewhere near level then the fridge should work, is it cooling at all?

Sounds like you could do with some fridge vent fans at the top to draw the air through quickly that helps with keeping fridge colder🤔

If you’ve got the winter covers fitted on the fridge grills, then you should remove then
Good suggestion Robert, never used ours even up in the mountains with snow all around😊

Try watching this it may help. I've not watched it all the way to the end yet but what I've seen makes sense, he's in a caravan.

Agreed. This may seem counterintuitive but it works! We had same problem many years ago and found the advice on line. Since seen it mentioned by many others.

He may not be right on every point but I like his “tell it as it is” Aussie style. Some helpful ideas in there.

I think with the temperatures that they have to deal with in Australia many of the less experienced will benefit from his knowledge (y)

Like has been said ,don't have any winter covers on your fridge and if it does get hot where you are , you can take off the grill covers temporarily to help cool the rear of the fridge down..
When you get the opportunity fit a couple of fans to the top grille to side air flow through the vents.

Always useful for others to know what fixed the issue...
