Do any of you F1 supporting funsters know why the Channel 4 sponsors "Bristol Street Motors" is flying the Union Flag upside down on their Bristol Street Motors F1 car.
Suspect it just ignorance and not an SOS call for help as should be the case.???

You will probably find that someone there is a little Englander, usually seen in suburban gardens on unfrapped flagpoles . Why they fly them or carry them upside down is a mystery.

This is the flag on my Caddy. Is it the right way up?????

Apparently not. (n)
The Union Flag must be flown the correct way up. This is with the wider diagonal white stripe above the red diagonal stripe in the half nearest to the flag pole. The wider diagonal white stripe should be above the red diagonal stripe at the top left hand side of the Flag nearest the flag pole.

Sorry can't tell... that flag is not on a flag pole... it is floating in mid air... The edge on flag pole should have broad white stripe at top.

It is assumed the the flag is flying left to right, the flagpole being on the left side

#12. it's just in front of the drivers door (one on the other side also) to the left of the wheel arch. So mirror not an excuse

Arrgh, thought it was front windscreen !
Any chance your flag is the right way up but they put the windows in upside down ?

I watch F1 on a Sunday afternoon as it's the only thing that sends me to sleep. (afternoon nap)

I started this thread to highlight the abuse of our National flag and is nothing to do with F1..It is about our National flag being defaced. I know F1 is of no interest and even bores the feck out of some people (as does cricket. football and horse racing AND BASEBALL to me) BUT I thought even they would be patriotic enough to know when their National flag is being abused. SORRY for being so patriotic..!!!

They like upside down things, they have a few upside down ads.

Maybe the flag is a marketing ploy.

This is the same argument that was being discussed re the new paint job on the RAF Voyager where on the right hand side of the tail the broad white band is nearest the front. The answers given was that if you imagine the flag flying from a flagpole the flagpole would be towards the front so the broad stripe would be at the front on both sides of the tailplane. This is the convention for all moving vehicles. So the flag is not being abused in the advert as the car is showing the right hand side

Back on topic......speaking of knowing better. The ‘patriotic’ Boris bus after its paint job.

if the flag is flown left to right (hypothetical pole on the left).....there looks to be a slight issue.

Not political....just saying 😉

Yes but as the plane is heading into the wind, it is correct.

Yup....correct and that’s the defence that was offered at the time and mentioned above.

Although most flags are Illustrated as left to right

They should just tweak the flag design so it can be universally flown in any orientation.
