I'm a newbie
Hello, I'm thinking of uprating my axle, I'm told I will need doctors exam or similar when I reach 70 ,,can anyone enlighten me please ,regards Paul

I assume you mean you are uprating the van to a higher weight? Often this is from 3500kg to 3850 kg. to get extra payload i. e. carry more stuff in the van without being over the total, gross weight.
I think this would automatically change the maximum axle weights for both axles, and would also be stated on the new plate.
If you look further on this site you will find tons of info on it,and the names of two companies that members have used.
Have you got a C1 licence at the mo? If so,that will enable you to drive over 3500kg now,but you would need to reapply at age 70 and pass the health questions.

Thank you

The medical at 70 is the standard one that all Hgv drivers take. Book online with one of the companies and it's around £60
