Does anyone have any ideas how I can do this? The campsite wifi must be set on low as we can't upload on it.
Our own Mifi would use 3/20 mgs for just a few minutes. We are on Three and pay £20 a month for Mifi
My videos are up to 15 minutes and I'd like to upload about two a week
We plan to be travelling through Germany and Eastern Europe to Italy and taking about 8 months.
Any thoughts are appreciated.

That'll be BIG files you're wanting to upload. Maybe try going to nearest off site cafe or shopping mall offering wifi and try there - in a cafe with wifi there should be less contention as fewer people competing for the bandwidth.

Just read the recommended thread
It seems that a VPN is the best option.
I film on an android phone that posts directly to you tube. Does anyone know the best one to get for my purposes of watching and posting on you tube? I don't mind paying a reasonable sub

Not easy, and very time consuming. And yes the quality will be affected.

Not a chance I think. Uploads to Youtube are mp4 which is about as compact a format as there is. An eleven second video I have on YouTube is 4Mb so that works out at about 25Mb per minute.

Finding somewhere with good fast and free WiFi is your only option I fear.

As above. I'd forget trying to do this on a campsite, too many sharing the internet. A VPN service only hides your IP address, you will still need a good broadband connection to upload and download data.

Just checked a video on my phone. A 26 second clip is 186MB big so your 15 minute videos are going to be "HUGE".

But make sure it is converted to mp4 first. There are apps which do the conversion though I don't have enough experience to recommend one above the others.

I upload my aires videos from home and although they are only 3-4 minutes they can take a couple of hours to upload.
OK, our broadband (aka rubber band) is slow but I wouldn't want to be uploading from a mobile.

Worth also considering some sort of editing software to use to cut the length of the videos down. A fifteen minute video can be very boring if there isn't much going on in it. :) Don't feel obliged just because you have taken a lot of video to upload it all. Less is more folks! :)

Totally agree with that.
I have found that the shorter the video the more views it tends to get. I now keep them as short as possible while still attempting to give the maximum amount of info and directions to an aire.
It is said that people tend to have very short attention spans these days so you have to get the information over before boredom sets in.

That will be in the video format used by the phone, possibly .avi though it might be something else. When converted to .mp4 it would be much smaller. It is also possible to reduce the size still further by reducing the size of the video in pixels.

Yes thanks good point
I use it on my bush phone though which connects straight to YouTube so I don't think j I can get software in there
It's supposed to be a bit rough and ready rather than polished but I can certainly make smaller ones.

Found that Maastricht Marina has strong enough wifi to upload in minutes
Delighted!
This means that some campsites will have strong enough wifi after all

Nope MP4 on my phone. Just realized it has been recording videos in 4K. I suppose if you can reduce the original quality of recording you will automatically reduce the size.
