Been reading a lot about up plating

I have the forms and details now from Downloading from the Sv Tech website
seems a simple process to do.
and yes I have the correct driving licence.

is it really as easy as a form a few snaps of the existing weight plates and the second page of the log book . or is there more to it.

If you post up some photos of the current plate, or add details of the plate and vans, make and model a more informed answer can be added to the thread.
You may well also want to consider Van Weight Engineering, who will supply the same service, but at a markedly more economical rate, if that is of a consideration .;)

It will all depend on your tyres and maybe air assist. If all that is in place then it could well be just a paper exercise.

Looking at that it may just be a paper exercise to get to 3650kg.
it certainly was with my Transit based vehicle going from 3500 to 4000kg.

No air assist. Just std although all this is asked on the form.

Yes it is, we done ours, got the weight label to on, just waiting for DVLA paper now, It's uprated to 3.7Kgs, but wish now I installed the air bags, and uprated more.

We went from 3300kgs to 3500kgs…..paperwork exercise with no modifications required. (y)

We think we’re about on the line fully loaded water fuel passengers dogs and all the extra motorhome and camping bits
so a few hundred would be great.
Which chassis are you on, light or maxi?
std with a small extension Total length. 6.1 mtrs. That’s including the fitted ladder.

You need a report from an engineer so either SV Tech or Van Weight Engineering apart from that very straight forward.
Main problem is DVLA change the Revenue weight but not the MAM. I did my last van it took DVLA over 4 months to get it right.

Do you know the PCD of your wheels ?
Maxi is 5x130 light is 5x118
Light can do just a bit more weight but maxi can go to 4t

Just emailed off all the details and the form so I will have to see how much weight I can gain.
at the moment it is 3400 kg. 150 kg more would be ok any more and it will be a bonus.

You really need to get to a weighbridge first to see what your current axle weights are. Uplating will not increase these and they may be at the limit already which means any additional payload may be difficult to use legally in practice

Hence I sent off the form to see what they think I will be able to get.
then I will load fully and book in the weighbridge.

see then if I am still within the weight now or if I need to up plate.
I have asked for details before I make a decision.

I did the same before I had a stage 1 remap just to see if it was worth doing.

Be a good idea for everyone to know their weights before swanning about the countryside.....

The weight plate already says you can go up to 3650kg with 1750kg front axle and 1900kg rear axle so not really sure what SV Tech can advise unless you want to start upgrading.

The plate in the engine bay tells me that …..

everytime I add something I don’t go running down to the weighbridge just so I can swan about the countryside.

hence the thread. And I like swanning about the countryside anyway knowing my weight or not.
so long as I am not over the plate weight.

I suggest getting two opinions...SVTech and Van Weight Engineering (you will be dealing with Dee the owner).

Super quick service. My all-in price for a paperwork up-plating was £160 including the new plate to attach to the van.

Converters generally don't publish the unladen weight, just the MIRO.
The only one that I know that does is Carthago.

No it doesn't. The max weight overall is currently 3409kg with 1750kg max on front axle or 1900kg max on the rear to a total of 3400kg. To uprate to the sum of 1750 + 1900 = 3650kg will require uprating and a change in the V5.
Edit, realised that you weren't disputing this, just that SV tech will simply confirm it. Agree but they will have options about additional mods to allow a further increase. More weight allowance on the back axle is normally what's required.

So is this something that’s possible as an up plate ? Is that how they work out the max weight I thought it was a lot of high tech working out stuff .

SV Tech can uplate to 3650kg GVW as a paper exercise but they can't change the axle weights without adding extras
