On my A/S Warwick the gas tank underneath has paint peeling off and surface rust, what paint would be best would it be something like stone chip.

Assuming it is only light rust you can do something with it. To start off then off the tank valve. Carefully scrape any loose material off the tank then gently wire brush it to remove the surface rust, a brass brush is safest as it won't cause sparks. I'd then prime it with either an etching primer or hammerite primer. Top coat with a good quality metal paint. Finally give it a couple of coats of rubbberised paint (stonechip). Check the tank mounting closely as AS gang their tanks in thin metal straps.

I did mine last summer.I removed the tank wire brushed all over and gave it a coat of rust remover and then painted it with Hammerite , when that had dried I gave it a good coat of under seal. Should last for years now.
