Hello everybody. I got a Smarty mobile phone Sim Card this week, on their new deal of £15 month for unlimited data. I used a mobile hotspot linked to my smart tv in the motorhome and streaming tv was perfect.
I'm not a rep. for the company I was with Sky mobile before and perfectly happy with them, but an evening's viewing was using up around 6-10 gig of data, so my databank ran out.
Also, if you use this link, you (and me) will get a free month as well. It's a black Friday deal expiring on December 1st, should be £20 month.
There isn't a contract required and the offer is for 12 months, but can cancel at anytime without charges.
This sounds like a proper sales blurb! but it isn't, just wanted to share what I though was a cracking deal.

The 3 network, which Smarty use, is okish but do check their coverage, they are hopeless outside of the Central belt in Scotland. Can't even get a signal in East Lothian which isn't exactly in the sticks!

East Anglia and Midlands - Tried Smarty and found coverage poor, went back to GiffGaff (also no contracts) and far better, but was told capped in Europe - only company not capping Europe was Vodafone ?

Thanks for the info. How long did you use them, are you still with them?

I have the 30gb with smarty, it was great to use as a hotspot in Spain , ( used it on my firestick), but it only gives you 20gb while abroad.

But beware as your unlimited will reduce to 25gb if you go abroad, or it did when I was with them ;)
My wife is still on the Sky deal at the moment in a shared family data bank. Have any experience of using them abroad and do they have a data cap ? Thanks

I swapped from Smarty to 100gb Vodafone as you get the 100gb abroad.

Papermaker was about to press the button when a friend warned me off. We were on 3 for a couple of years, signal in the Highlands was no existent and to be fair when I checked the signal coverage, Easy Lothian was a black spot.

About to move from Voxi (Vodafone network) to Vodafone proper on 2 year 100 gig contract at £9.50/month after cashback. (Fonehouse)
No issues with Voxi, just a vehicle to allow me to keep getting good Vodafone deals.

Be aware, with the Smarty offering you can only tether for data usage whilst in the UK.(n)

Thanks for the info ! It's good to get everybody feeding back on the latest offers and previous experiences. Fortunately, the Smarty deal is a monthly rolling contract so I can bail out if it doesn't suit later on. Right now I'm getting great usage from it and still have my wife's Sky data option as well. I think the good lesson here is to have two options !

Do not know if the rules have changed since you got your SIM, but the Smarty website clearly states that they now restrict tethering to usage in the UK.

I’ve been home 2 weeks, used both sims with no problems.
We only have the monthly package.
