I've got a couple of these 230v 3 pin plug universal chargers at home and always find them handy. Basically they'll charge most mobile phone/camera type batteries by adjusting the sliding grip and the [+] and [-] pin positions. They also do USB.

What I'd like to know is does the 12v equivalent of this specific type of charger exist? One that I could plug into a 12v car lighter type socket?

I know about the laptop type ones with all the different plug types, but what I want is a phone/camera battery version, as above. Any pointers welcome. Ta.

Have a look at this one: Link Removed

It needs a 12v to USB converter but works well, if slowly.

I paid a bit less than this a year ago and there may be a better deal to be had elsewhere.

Thanks @tonyl - just the sort of thing I need. Like you say, a lower price would be welcome - I'll have a sniff around.

Might try this lower spec one, although the output voltage is more limited.:

I thought I might buy one of the ones you mentioned, @magicsurfbus - to leave in the van. However, I've just had a look and my camera battery is 7.2v, so that won't do the trick.

Annoyingly, we have mislaid the mains chargers for both our cameras, so have to use this one in the house as well as on the move. At least it does both voltages in one unit.

I've gone with your recommendation for exactly that reason thanks @tonyl - it's already on its way.
