Union flag when in franc Spain (1 Viewer)

We have bean in franc and Spain for for the last three weeks three to go on romeing with gifgaf I notes that the only time the union flag dose not appear it when on WiFi

Aha! On my Wi-Fi it shows me a Portuguese flag, on both posts.
On my U.K. phone, on 4g, it shows the Union flag, on both posts!
Stranger and stranger! Which flag do you see on my 2 posts above ?

Wildbill. When we were crossing from Portpatrick to Belfast on a Stena Line ferry last month Bill, I was on their ship's WiFi.............................showing a Norwegian flag on my Avatar.

I had to switch roaming off on my UK sim, before it connected to the ship's communications satellite system, so as not to incur excessive charges.

Aha! On my Wi-Fi it shows me a Portuguese flag, on both posts.

I believe the avatar flag is not static - it updates dynamically every time you log in based on where you are (or rather, where your network's internet gateway is) so it shows where you last logged in from rather than where you were when you made the post.

This post will probably have a German flag initially because I'm currently connected to work's VPN and our internet gateway is in Frankfurt. But if I change to one of our other gateways (eg. Singapore) and then log into MHF it will change to that flag. If I later log in to MHF from my own laptop or from my phone it'll update to UK.

The system is designed as an aid for forum administrators to spot spammers and scammers. I opened it up to everyone for a bit of fun. It works by obtaining the IP address you used to access the site so it is quite a crude tool, and of course if you are in China usings a British IP address then its the Union flag that we will seeyy
