I am contemplating doing the underside of our mh with that black stuff they spray on that (presumably) seals it from water/salt etc and stops/limits any further rusting and deterioration.

Do folks who have had it done reckon it is worth doing? I wonder if there are any possible problems that one might expect or hope will not happen!

I have been quoted £200/250, which does not seem excessive.

Any feed back would be most appreciated.

We had it done on our Hymer, it was 13 years old at the time. 2 years later we needed some welding for its test, always thought we had covered a problem up which could have been seen earlier. Would not have it done again.
Just my opinion

As long as it’s been steamed cleaned and most importantly allowed to dry then it’s money well spent
If you intend to keep her for a long time,
What you don’t want is to seal salt deposits between the under seal and your body,
There are many types of under seal so research the best type for your use,
If you pay a bit extra it’s worth going for chipcoat it’s harder wearing, I have used Upol gravetex to great effect,

I have always used Hammerite waxoyl , its virtually clear.
Water/ salt can get under a lot of the black underseal stuff and remain unseen , then it does untold damage
Lots of people swear by POR15 but ive never tried it.

Had my Adrian twin done from 5 months old with dintrol as I will be keeping for a long time.

I have had 2 customers previously cancelling buying a van as they thought under sealing was hiding something!
I personally think its a good idea!

Waste of time on old vehicles. I speak from experience. Unless you're stripping it down and sandblasting to bare metal, it WILL peel off in approximately 2 years with rust underneath. Wire brush anything loose off and blast white grease on. It will last 12+ years.

Oh and it's a hell of a lot cheaper, less messy and doesn't stink 😊...
