I'm a newbie
Hi all,
I have a 2008 Autotrail Tracker EKS, Fiat-based.
Whilst driving it home from the supplier, I noticed, as I now know thousands more have, that the radio reception is up and down like a bride's nightie, so recently invested in a Blaupunkt screen-mounted powered aerial in an effort to improve said signal!!
While I had my spending head on, I also bought a Nextbase 312gw dashcam.
BOTH of these require 12v to make them go, so please can anyone recommend a suitable take-off point, preferably ignition controlled?

Mechanicals are my forte, sadly electrics leave me cold:eek:

Many thanks,

Gus:D2

Cigarette lighter.
Fuse both feeds to suit appliances as fag lighter will be 10amps.
Spade connectors better...scotchlocks in desperation.

For the aerial the radio will have a lead that is powered when the radio is turned on. For the dash cam about 3 quid on eBay you can buy USB power supplies and the wire it to the +ACC feed (ignition switched feed on the radio). .

Thanks very much, guys....thought that was maybe too obvious, clearly the way to go though :)
Appreciate the tip about individual fuses.

Tell me about it, doing all the mods on my new van I've used insulated crimps or soldered wires, one place not enough room to get crimp tools in so resorted to Scotlocks, bl**dy problems that gave me.

If I HAVE to use scotchlocks I strip back a little insulation and fold the conductors over so doubling them.
Seems to work

Try doing that when working through a 5" sq hole at the side of the inside of an overhead locker without clear line of sight.

Although similar to Scotchlocks, I used to good effect when fitting several USB charging points throughout the Hymer.

Never seen those before, brilliant if you may want to disconnect later.

Now, do I need yet another box of bits ??????????

Our next door neighbour papered his hallway through his letterbox, mind you he is a gynaecologist.:)
