Hello you wonderful lot!

I know this has been discussed many many many times over the years but it seems there's no recent discussions about the options available on the market today.

I've got a couple of very slightly spongy patches on the underside of the floor and I think it would be prudent to treat the whole floor to increase its longevity.

There seems a large school of thought that the floor shouldn't be treated with anything as it needs to 'breathe' and is best left alone. I think this isn't the case as otherwise they wouldn't leave the factory with any treatment applied and we all know no paint, varnish or other wood treatment lasts forever.

I've come across a few products in my search and I'm wondering if anyone has used them, how well they worked or if anyone has any other recommendations? Or anything to avoid?

My biggest feat is applying something that soaks through the thin ply underside and dissolves the polystyrene insulation.

Dekaphon 9750 - purpose made for motorhomes. This seems to be more of a primer and would need a polymer based paint to fully protect the underside, would anyone agree?

Dekaphon 9735 - purpose made for motorhomes. This is quite expensive at around £20 per can and each can only covering 2-3m2 but it does seem like a one spray and forget solution.

Zinnser 'All coat exterior paint' - generic exterior paint suitable for use on plyboard.

Thompson weather seal - or similar?

Epoxy spray paint

Thanks all and have a great weekend!

Sounds good, is it OK on plastics as a there are quite a few underslung which if spraying could get a coat.
I ask as some undersals are not good for plastics.

I would use a 5l can of bitumen paint cheap as chips and waterproof too. You could thin it with white spirit for the first coat.

I'd put a fan heater under the van where your going to start painting for a couple of hours to make sure it's bone dry, and move it along the van as you progress. If you can get a crawler board that would make it much more bearable.

I must do mine I have the stuff just need the energy!!

Would bitumen pain seal moisture in as well as keeping it out?

I have been doing the underside of our Moho with waxoil.

you can go over anything with it. As it is what it says .wax in oil.
has to be warm to spray on but I used a brush as much as I can so far then I will have to spray the bits that I can
not get to with a brush..

going to do it all underside but I did use underseal for the four wheel arches where stones are likely to chip at the bodywork and at the same time takes away that metal drumming noise.
