Twice my incredibly bright led under awning strip light has stopped working. I thought at first the switch but no. It just failed to erate for a long period when i switched it on then miraculously started working fine. Now it has ceased again but if I switch it on at the very far end 2 diodes work extremely faintly. Is this a "short" ? Also are these strips glued on or clipped or screwed?
Thanks

This may not be relevant, but I found a similar problem with one of the LED strips I fitted under the kitchen cupboards. The strips are cut to length at preset points, and a connector is clipped onto the end. Metal pins press on the copper tracks on the strip to make electrical contact. After a year or so that became intermittent. I could tell it was the problem because touching it would make it go on and off. In the end I took off the connector and soldered wires onto the copper track.

Just been up the ladders, it looks like 2 diodes may have melted as the pastic cover strip is bobbled and stained.

Thanks, it s messy replacement then!

They may be a bit difficult to remove, I'd suggest acetone (nail varnish remover)
But try a small area first, as solvents can damage aluminum.

Most LED strips arrive with a sticky back that you remove a plastic strip to stick up, so no need to get the glue gun out.

May need someone to do it for me as I’m not too agile these days!
