On and off for many years.
The rest of the Jim Clark Rally has been cancelled. Unconfirmed reports are that several spectators have been seriously injured.

Rally cars have been whizzing past the end of our road (not one of the closed roads but used as an unofficial short-cut between stages of the rally) all yesterday and this morning - it went very quiet mid-afternoon.

Prayers to all who have been injured and their relatives.

It is now being reported that one man has died.

I don't know the ins and outs of this incident but know the road where it happened very well.

The rally takes place on an annual basis on roads that are normally public roads but are closed when used for the rally.

I'm getting updates locally as I was on standby for the "resilient communities" but I'm not needed.

It was the ever-increasing power of the old Group B cars that killed 80's rallying, though that was due to the danger to the drivers. Rallying always carries a risk to spectators who do at times stand in the most dangerous of places, but having said that, cars can come off where least expected. We had a spectator death during the same Scottish Championship, at the Inverness Snowman Rally 2 or 3 years ago. As with both incidents, devastating for all involved, not only for the families, but particularly for the unfortunate drivers involved.

On and off for many years.
They now say a third person has died and another is in Edinburgh Royal Infirmary in a critical condition.

:Sad::Sad:

Six people injured, two critical and three deaths in two major incidents at the rally.

I'm not sure what will happen from now on in as safety concerns have been raised a few times by local people. We wanted to avoid this.

Can remember the earlier days of Rallying, well the Escorts and rear drive Skoda's,........not forgetting TR8's of Tony Pond, and the Chevette, of I think if memory serves me right, Colins dad, Jimmy McRea........((spelling a big off there, I think:RollEyes:)).......then onto the Audi Quattro's, Mmm wonderfull cars, Lancia Stratos, (was there EVER a better looking rally car than that).......and 6R4 metro's..........

I can understand why things had to change, BUT to me, a lot of the excitement has gone compaired to those day's, now.

My condolences to those touched by this incident.

I'm sure all our thoughts are with the families of those you have lost their lives or been injuried in during the rally
