How necessary is this. We're off to Spain next month and wondering if people actually bother?

Several threads and dozens (hundreds?) of previous posts on this.
I didn't find it a bother - less than a fiver at Halfords and all of 30 seconds to slap it on. ;)
But you can’t buy them once your on the continent

I put a small one on rear number plate, just in case.

Why not? I mean it’s the law and Amazon have them for less than fiver. Up to you but it’s not worth the hassle imo

Been going to Europe for summer and winter breaks since 2009 and not used them.

No issues.

Why would you not want to?
Are we not proud to be part of the UK so why not tell people about ourselves? There seems to be a group of people on this motorhome fun forums who prefer to ignore the laws. Just wait for the moans when we have a thread for those who got stopped and fined for either not have a regulation UK sticker. a GB sticker or not one at all! Sympathy, don't be silly!

We got a new number plate with a UK mark for the car ... can't stand stickers and the boot/bonnet of the car is all composite these days so magnetic plates are no use

Five quid delivered off ebay for two oval UK and two reg plate stickers, stuck them over the old "GB" stickers. Now legal so no worrying about gendarmes etc if they fancy giving us an on the spot fine.

I bought a UK sticker off eBay which stuck on well enough but the UK slowly disappeared, I think it was printed with a poor quality printer

For some reason the Spanish authorities want an oval sticker.

I have UK and also GB as Johnny foreigner thinks the UK one is Ukraine.
I have UK on the vans plates. On our recent trip a German chap was walking past with his young son spotting different countries, as he passed ours he told his son Britain. In other conversations with “Jonny foreigner” no one mistook me for Ukrainian.

You must have been unlucky, 12 months later, and 40 degrees plus heat at times, and mine look like new.

I keep forgetting to put my magnetic one on when I set off for our next destination.
No hassle in Spain as a result.... yet!

Perhaps the Union Jack is a giveaway. In France this summer, I was asked if I was from Ukraine. Only had the oval but no markings on numberplate.

If we had it in French, it would be Royaume-Uni. I'm not sure I want an RU sticker.
