A simple question please because the official gov site is driving me nuts. I renewed my passport last year so I have the new British passport but my lady friend has not renewed so still has the EU passport.
So the question is, is her passport still valid to travel or am I going on my own tomorrow.

If you mean the old style pre Bword red passport then it needs to have 3 months left on it and must have been issued within the past 10 years

it has to have 6 months left on it
It varies depending on the country you’re going to, some are still 3 months eg Belgium, I have double checked and it’s still true. Nearly caused a divorce between two ex colleagues last year!

My passport was renewed shortly before swmbo. Mine has European Union on it and hers hasn't though both red, just using up the old stock I guess. Stepson more recently renewed has a black one.

If you still have a passport that has an expiry date which is more than 10 years after the issue date, you have to use the issue date + 10 years as the valid expiry date then take off the 3 or 6 months depending on which country you are going to.

I forget when the passport office moved to only issuing 10 year passports. I suspect is was longer than 10 years ago therefore my above comment should be redundant.
