If you or anyone you know is planning a trip to the Outer Hebrides next year, please be aware of the following, which will impact direct travel from Skye and also probably have a knock-on effect on capacity on other routes:

The Sleat Community Council

As we recently reported Uig Harbour serving CalMac Ferries routes to Lochmaddy and Tarbert Harris will be closed to all ferry services in Autumn 2022 for redevelopment of the pier and related facilities. This will be a period of 5 months from September through to February 2023. Dates have been provided but these may slip but is expected that the work required will be both during the summer and winter timetable seasons.
If you are intending to travel to either of these ports during that time arrangements for alternative sailings are being proposed. These are 1 x daily rotation from Ullapool to Lochmaddy (4.5 hrs e/w) and 10 rotations a week from Lochboisdale, South Uist to Mallaig (3.5 hrs e/w). There will be no sailings to or from Tarbert for the duration of the work.
CalMac have published an information fact sheet following local community engagement meetings this week. This is shown at this link:
https://www.calmac.co.uk/uig-harbour-upgrades-community...
And the slides used in the meetings are here.
<Broken link removed>
If you know of friends or guests that may be considering travelling to North Uist or Harris during that period please make them aware.
