Hello FunSters

So here I am again, seeking to further delve into your ancient wisdom !

I have always maintained my vehicles myself, but retired now so paying surrogates to take my facefull of oil & rust !
This vehicle (2008 Burstner Ducato 2.3 130 MJ ) is a significant investment, so trying to do it right this time.

Tyres:
They are all 215 / 70 / R15 (CP) Michelin Agilis Camping.
Two on the front are dated 2012, rear are 2018

Cam/timing belt:
Last replaced in December 2016, at 12000 miles ago.

I will be going to Scotland this month on approx 1200 mile round trip, so pondering about Tyres & Cambelt -

- What needs done before the trip / and what can wait till next year.

Steve

Front tyres, replace now, 10 yr old on a demanding trip no thanks
How about the spare?
Cam belt, change every 5 years, yours 4 yrs 10 months.
how lucky do you feel punk? (Imagine a 45 magnum pointed at you)
Me id bottle it and get belt done as well
Ps previously i had a passat with 5 k miles left to next change, do i now ,nah wait a month . Two days later blown engine , belt jumped.

I would agree tyres are well overdue and waiting for a problem.
Cambelt, if it had a decent belt fitted in Dec 2016, I would be less concerned about.
But would certainly get it done sooner rather than later.

I would replace the two front tyres now and the cambelt. Peace of mind….and no worries.

My uncle has a moho on Fiat base. He has asked me to confirm if you guys advise doing water pump at same time like on most cars? Cheers

Depends on the type of engine, some are cam belt driven and some aren’t.

Thinking (above) about the term 'bottle it' I've always wondered about this.
Does it mean "I will resort to alcohol" of so I know what the poster means 🤔

bottle and glass is cockney slang for your derrière a tight sphinter is often a blessing in hairey situations

'Bottle' is slang for courage. To 'lose one's bottle' is to lose courage - ie: to 'chicken out' !!!!!!!!!!!!!
