Read about a £20 discount (from £135) in the Caravan Club December issue so as I've been thinking of getting a set for a little while visited the website http://www.tyrepal.co.uk and tried to order using the code given by the Caravan Club. However it wouldn't work, even if I linked direct from the CC website so left it.

This morning tried again but it still wouldn't work, so I clicked on "Offers" on the Tyrepal site and lo and behold Tyrepal themselves are offering the same system (TB99) for under £100 using a different code (X1499) as a Christmas Special.

Just posting so that if anyone else wants one, forget CC and go straight to Tyrepal. Hope they're as good as has been reported on here.

Has anyone problems with the weight bridges between France and Spain. A friend had a run in on the a63 near Bayonne . Thanks

Anyone had any problems with the TB99 sensors?
ezee

Bought a sat-nav on discount offer through Caravan Club.
We eventually worked out that it was a fault with the sat-nav that blew all our 12v fuses (OK, 2 of them while I was trying to work out if this WAS the problem :madder:). We wanted an exchange, refund or repair.
However: some, if not all, CC "Member Offers" are run like Groupon - ie your contract is not with CC but with the supplier...
...who, surprisingly, had just gone bust & re-opened under another name & refused all liability. So that's a write-off.:crying:
Be warned! - read the small print!!!

The TB99 system is for cars and vans, the TC215B system for motorhomes 0r am I missing something?

CC must be employing Tescos pricing policy, for their benefit, certainly not for the members!

The TB99 will work for a motorhome. I occasionally use a trailer so was looking to buy 2 systems at the £99 price to cover the extra 2 wheels but after contacting the company direct I have bought a 6 sensor system (TC215B) for the price of 2 TB99 devices. Result !! Thanks Terry for the heads up.

Colin

Thanks Colin.

I think I will order a TB99 and wrap it up for Christmas! We were thinking about getting one anyway and at that price it is a no-brainer.

Edit: Ordered.

Thanks for the nod terry, ordered this morning. Barrie

How much do these sensor weigh on the valve stem what is the chances of breaking the brass stem off on a twin wheel system? Only thing that worries me about them affecting balance and snapping off.

Answers are all on their web site.

On our twin wheel axle I used the flow through sensors and fitted them into the flexible pipes routing the valves to the wheel trims for ease of filling. I fitted the sensors opposite each other to keep the balance. Works great.

This forum is making us spend more money! Think we are going to order too as we only have the emergency repair kit so no spare wheel on the motorhome :( May be a good idea on our car too...

I have the TB99 system on my 7.4mtr Adria. Worked fine for the first 2000kms of our maiden voyage but then I started to get spurious warnings from the rear sensors on our return journey through France.

The sensor furthest from the monitor started playing up first, then the other rear sensor chirped in a day or two later.

My suspicion is that the sensor battery voltage has dropped a fraction and that's enough to affect the transmitted signal to the monitor. I've swapped the rear sensors to the front wheels in order to confirm this. Haven't been out recently, though, so will have to report back on that.

How long have you had it?

Since September, I have been up to Scotland and I'm now in Spain, worked fine so far. In answer to another question on the post the sensors dont weigh very much and I think there is little danger of them damaging the stem. Probably shouldnt have said that as sometimes these things come back and bite your bum!

Thanks for that, will see what happens with mine.

We had a T22 and recently updated at the NEC to the new TC215B and the TB99 for the toad, due to the fact of our toad having no spare wheel. Theoretically I could have been dragging the car with a flat tyre and not been aware. There is a repeater which requires a 12V supply, which I mounted in the garage since the van plus the toad may have exceeded the range of the TC215B master unit .

The other week I had an error message which said 'rapid loss of air' in one of the rear wheels of the van. Fortunately I had only just left home, so stopped and checked the tyre which was ok, so I switched the master unit off and on again and the alarm dissappeared. Its appears to have behaved itself since. Otherwise suitably impressed especially with the larger display and constant polling of all 10 tyres pressures and temperatures.

If anyone is interested I have a TA400 system with six sensors purchased in March this year (I have the invoice available) used for about 6 months. This version has the sealed sensors, with a 5 year battery life.
If you look on the Tyrepal website under Products>Previous models and you can see full details if you look at the Instruction Manual .PDF. Paid around £200 (can't look at invoice as we are away at the moment) looking for around half of that including postage. PM me if interested

Andrew

I also started having spurious warnings after a few months. I have a theory that it may be the batteries, as they come already fitted and so might be quite old when you get them. They are easy to replace, as long as they are not the new sealed ones. Batteries are CR1632.

Postman just delivered - 24 hours service, excellent! Taking van to Daves next week, will fit them then.

Mine arrived this morning, reading instructions almost the first thing was not suitable for alloy valves which is what I have. They are now on the way back. DISSAPOINTED

Terry - Thanks for the information. I too had seen the "Special Offer" in CC magazine. Just ordered a set for my new motor-home direct from TyrePal.
John

Mine have arrived as well.

Will have to check the valves, hope they are not aluminum.
