I have just purchased a 2006 Stargo on the Mercedes Sprinter chassis with 3.1l diesel and auto gearbox. Can anybody tell me what the tyre pressures should be please?

Get the popcorn out!!!
There are two? thoughts on this.
Certain manufacturers (Michelin) seem to insist that the tyres are inflated to a set figure ie 80psi.
If you have fillings in your teeth and go down that route, be prepared to visit the dentist as the subsequent ride will rattle them out.
The other thought (Continental) is that the pressure is adjusted as per the load imparted on the tyres on each axle.
Continental have a chart that gives the pressure re the load imparted.

Thanks Emmit for your very helpful response.
I collect the van from the dealer tomorrow so as my drive home is going to be 135 miles I should know if the van is comfortable to drive and steering not too light/heavy. If not then I fear a visit to weighbridge night be in the offing to check axle weights. Would the Continental advice hold good for other tyre manufacturers? I am not sure what she is shod with at present.

Unless you are going to follow the advice of Michelin you will need to put it on a weighbridge and get axle weights for both front and rear, then you can follow a tyre manufacturers load table of pressure vs axle load for your tyre load rating.

Seems like a sensible course of action to me as tyre pressures seem to be very variable.

Weighbridge is always a good idea as you know how much payload you have to play with. Set up in travelling mode with full tanks for a 'worst case scenario'. Be prepared to diet.

A good average starting point will be 55psi fronts and 65psi rears, once you’ve driven a while you’ll know which way to go…👍🏼
