Does anyone know the ideal tyre pressure for this set up please . 3850KG van running very close to that in full holiday mode . Dunlop rear air assist on leaf springs . I’ve set the front tyres at 50psi and back at 60 .Tyres are Michelin Agilis Camping ,Is this ok ? I’ve heard about running at higher pressures but not sure if it’s needed .

Cheers Lenny . I am getting better than this as I guessed you would come and say the exact same thing lol 😂. The ride seems good but I just think 50psi is to low at the front . I will be get it on the weighbridge👍🏻

I asked on here and was told to look at the plate on the inside of my passenger door. It tells you there. Never knew that! I don't know if that's in your van too or many other vans but it was in mine. Feels okay at that pressure too.

I have a bit of confusion with my tyre pressures .. different figures on door pillar and handbook, so advice warmly requested

Dethleffs Trend T 6575 (2019) with Michelin 225/75R16 CP 116Q

Plated to 3499Kg with Front axle 1950Kg and rear 2000Kg (I haven't had it on a weighbridge, but suspect we are under the 3500Kg when we are touring as its just the two of us)

Door pillar states 5.5 Bar front and rear

Dethleffs manual for these tyres at load/speed rating 116R (not 116Q as fitted) and plated axle weights states 3.5 Bar Front / 4.25 Bar Rear

Michelin website calculates the required pressures for these tyres and axle weights as 4.5 Bar front /5.5 Bar rear

Which pressures would you reccomend from the above, and if I go for the lower pressures could I possibly fall foul of the law?

The Dethleffs ones sound a bit low the others a bit high I would probably go for 4 & 4.5 bar.

The whole issue of tyre pressures is a minefield.

Our 2019 Peugeot Boxer based m/h has a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System as standard. Peugeot have it set at 80 psi front and rear.

Continental tyres, for our actual axle weights, recommend 58psi front and 64psi rear.

The TPMS is not owner adjustable so, if tyres are set at Continental’s recommended pressures dashboard warnings tell me that my tyres are under inflated.

Finding a garage that is able to reset the TPMS to Continental’s recommended pressures is a nightmare. Two “Peugeot Professional “ garages have told me it is impossible, although I know that some people have had it done.

There is a thread on the Forum listing software packages that can effect the change, but I can’t find it at the moment. When I do, I will be asking my local, back street garage, if they have the software.

Take your pick.........

Continental Vanco 215/70R 15 CP109. Front 1750kgs Rear 1900kgs GVW 3500kgs

Ducato Van Sticker on door pillar......F 72.5psi (5bar) R 79.8psi (5.5bar).

Converters User Manual (Sunlight).....F 69psi ((4.75bar) R 79.8psi (5.5bar).

Tyresafe UK website (not sure if that’s the proper name for it).....F 63psi (4.36bar) R 80psi (5.5bar).

Continental Tyre Chart.....F 54.4psi (3.75bar....much lower than the three above) R 72.5 (5bar).

I still haven’t made up my mind what to run them on. At the moment I’ve got the F 4.5bar and R 5bar.

I’ve got my Tyrepal waiting to be set up.......but I haven’t decided what pressures to use. 🤷‍♂️

On our 2012 Bailey the label inside the passenger door has 80psi all round. But I’ve found it much better to lower the front only to 65psi. Any less is not good. I got to the 65psi by trial and error.
Edit: also still got my Tyrepal system to set up. Haven’t had the chance yet. Hope it’s fairly straight forward.

Don't know how much of a difference it makes but mine is a panel van I've converted, not a motor home.

From my (bad) memory I have 59 in the front and 64 in the back. I think.

Emailed Dethleffs and they replied:

The information on the Fiat sticker is the maximum air pressure.

In the Dethleffs user manuals you will find a load-dependent air pressure table. You can use the air pressure information listed there. For your vehicle, you can use the following air pressure for the specified tyres and axle loads.

Front axle: 3,50 bar
Rear axlle: 4,25 bar

This is per the user manual .. looks a bit low to me, so will probably try 4.0/4.5 bar for now and see how it goes.
