I need to buy a new tyre inflator for the motorhome. What can you recommend please. (y)

Amazon product ASIN B079Z9FQPW
Rechargeable (cordless) and will plug into 12 volt socket if needed. Will inflate a to 80 psi. (rated to 125 psi)Automatic stop at pre-set pressure. Has LED torch too.

I'm very impressed with it. If using to inflate to 80psi using the battery it won't last long but fine for topping up or using on cars/cycles. If you need to pump up form 0 -80 psi on a motorhome you will need to plug it in.

I got this last week. Cordless so much easier to use.

Ring works for me too, though that t-max looks interesting.

It's not perfect, the long hose means you have to walk back to the pump to turn it off once the pressure is reached, but you can get around a vehicle easily with it. It also screws onto the valve, which works better than a quick release on some of our vehicles, but is a pain on others. I've added a quick release valve to my kit.
It happily does the high-ish pressures of vans, and high volume of 4x4 tyres.

If like me you have a number of DeWalt tools and hence batteries, then the DeWalt tyre inflater is a good buy.
Absolutely, although I still have a T-Max dual motor compressor from my off-roading day's, I recently bought a dewalt cordless compressor and found it to be an excellent piece of equipment, so convenient to use with it being cordless.

Can be currently found on ebay at FFX with 20%off making it £100

Ring RAC830 12V Rapid Digital..
Ideal for motorhome use

Neat and compact pump. Inflates tyres up to 80psi without any problems. I like way you can easily preset the target pressure and let it run, also has a cooling fan that stops it getting too hot. Very pleased with it. Needs an extension cable for a 7m motorhome.

Thanks for all your input guys. I have had a mad moment ( no alcohol involved) and bought a Makita tyre inflator. My reasons being, I like Makita stuff I have had a Makita cordless drill for about twenty years and it’s still good. My tyre inflator needs to be cordless because I have a tag axle and the ones with a lead are never long enough to get to the back axle. So £191 later and good ol Amazon it’s on its way. (y) ………I need a drink.

DEWALT DCC018N-XJ 18V LI-ION XR CORDLESS INFLATOR - BARE

Especially if you have other Dewalt tools and already have the batteries.

I have loads of Dewalt tools and I love the brand. Just this once I bought a Dewalt to Makita adaptor (to use my Dewalt batteries) and a Makita inflator (Which was much cheaper and seemingly just as good). Works really well.

Another vote for the Makita, Compact and lighter than the pump that came with the MH. I also have the Makita fan so can use the same battery. Keep a couple of tyre seal inflators which I can save every couple of years - they loose their defectiveness over time.

Which batteries do those with the 18V Makita inflators use? Is a 3Ah battery enough to handle 80psi for Ducato rear tyres?

The Makita will work with any of the 18v batteries - it will just run for longer with the bigger batteries and handle 80psi. There are 2 versions of the pump, I went for the latest one which is more expensive but will run for longer and has some additional features I was happy to pay for. DMP181 rather than the 180 - screwfix have it for about £85 at the moment which is a lot less than I paid for mine!

Buy a track pump and a pressure gauge. Cheap and reliable alternative if you are only putting a few psi.

I have the DeWalt cordless. Absolutely brilliant. Quite accurate on the pressure. Easy to adjust the pressure. I can do all four tyres on the car to 45 and the Moho to 80 psi without any problems. Had the 12v corded ones like the Ring etc, but the cordless wins hands down both for the screw on valve as well as ease of use. Good you can set the pressure for a tyre and walk away and it’ll stop itself when pressure reached.

Ryobi do an inflator that goes up to 10bar. Anyone tried one?

Recently treated myself to a Milwaukee M18 Inflator. Great piece of kit, and not a bad price if you already have the batteries.

I have been using a Durite twin piston tyre pump which is good for commercial tyres. It's quite sturdy. The Pt no. is 00-674-00
