Autotrail Dakota
Exp
2009
Good morning
I bought a 2011 Autotrail Dakota last March from a reputable motorhome manufacturer and used motorhome dealer. I took the van for a remap at a local garage and whilst they were working on it the mechanic noticed the front tyres were cracking on the inside wall. I have subsequently checked the age of the tyres and the DOT Number is 3809. That tells me that the tyres were manufactured in the 38th week of 2009?
Soi the dealer sold me a van with 12 year old tyres on it. Your thoughts will be appreciated
Stay safe and happy travelling.

Probably the original tyres of the chassis vehicle before the hab side was built on.
If your van is over 3.5 t then the front tyres ,whilst not illegal should be changed. It is recommended that MH tyres are changed every 6 years.
I would have a word with the supplying dealer.,if they are reputable ,they should change them.

Probable the original rears, I’ve just put 6 new ones on my 2009, despite having no cracks just replaced due to age.

10 year old van, I cannot see you can expect them to replace them as it's fair wear and tear. Clutch brakes all things that need replacing tbh.

Just be thankful it's not damp or dpf gone gearbox or big end bearings.

My opinion etc.

Cheers James

There’s a ruling quoted that Tyres over 10 years old are illegal ,post just recently tonight.

Took some 5 year old Michelins off my wifes car, the side walls were cracking and on inspection when off the car they were knackered. So be careful and change tyres at 5 years.
