Hi All I am going to change my van and I want either two singles or island bed pros and cons please. Many thanks
Steve

We went from a French quarter double, to two singles. Best sleeping layout for us............................and many others it seems, due to the popularity of MHs with two singles over the rear garage. (y)

If one of you is unfortunately struck down with illness, two singles means that both of you can get the best sleep possible, without disturbing the other.

Cheers,

Jock. :)

We don't like wet rooms on a MH, so it was a full width bathroom at the rear for us as well, with separate full size shower and loo.

We have 2 full length sofas down each side which become single beds, but we can have the singles side out to meet in the middle to form a very large double.

Everything else being equal, then singles.
Bed for me, and I don't have to share with Kerry.
Likewise but mine does have a habit of breathing down my ear in the middle of the night 😉😉

Doubles for us please. Extra warmth and only one bed to make meaning less bedding to carry.

We have twin singles and have opted to substitute cupboards for the front double. However all is not lost when the friskier moments are upon us, a slide out section with a built in ladder plus the infill cushion are easily organised before the moment is lost.

Singles are good, in fact I sleep better for not being disturbed - Just don't tell the wife. :whistle2: :whistle2:
Garages are going to be much more sought after because of the price of mountain bike and battery bikes and garages being far more secure in a garage.

Double at home, so why anything else in our motor'home'?

It would be island double if we can find one high enough not to restrict the garage - probably easier on a truck chassis, which I could contemplate when I have changed my over 70 C1 to Polish licence which has 5-year medicals.

Agreed. Our bicycle insurance, which is part of the house insurance, says that they are only covered on a vehicle if they are locked inside and out of sight. Garage essential because they cost too much to take a risk.

An island bed is much more friendly but twin singles are more practical (IMO).
Twin singles (usually) take up less of the vehicle length and provide better space for dressing or access to the small room. Many twins can be made into large doubles but I fail to understand how they are sheeted.
As you get older you may find the need for the loo becomes more frequent so easy access could become important and island beds are not quite so good. Transverse beds will be far less practical, even if you were fond of mountaineering once.
