newbie
Hi all, daft newbie question here. We have been away for the first time in our motorhome last weekend, (had a fab time wildcamping up in the cheviot's & kielder) and wondered what folk did with the tv when moving about. Do you take it down from the bracket and store it in a cupboard, or can it safely be left in place? the bracket seems to be quite strong, but i dont know it the vibration from travel would rip the fixing from the wall if the tv was left on.

cheers.
Paul

Getting better month by month.
Mine folds up on it's bracket and stows in the cupboard. Lays susspended face down and the roads we travel, if something was to go wrong, it certainly would have done by now.(y)

The question is almost self answering
Try removing the TV.
If it takes less than 15 seconds, remove when travelling
If it takes 15 Minuets leave it where it is

Seriously due to the vast amount of TV,s, Brackets, and mounting options available from 1/2" chipboard and ply
to 1/16th" thick hollow walls only you can judge the security of your TV mount
There are as many remove the TV as there are those that leave them in place

Our previous motorhome had the bracket fitted to a securing point on an external wall, quite substantial. We simply folded the bracket back and used a Velcro tie to stop movement when travelling.

Our present one has it mounted on the wall of the wardrobe which, although it has a strengthening block fitted, looks less substantial. So we now remove it for travelling.

Takes five seconds to remove. As it is fitted by the fixed bed we leave the cables attached and just lie it, face down, on the bed. Refixing takes no longer.

My Television has been sat on it's bracket in the van for 3 years.(y)

Am I saying the bracket is strong? No, I'm just pointing out how lazy I am:D

As has already been said you need to check the suitability of the holding panel.

Mine is on the bracket all the time and we have been on some pretty rough roads. Ours is only a small 19" one though, if you have a 60" screen like some on here that will be more of a strain on whatever it's mounted on.

Ours has a bracket but we take it off for travelling and security ,anyone looking in can see what we've got if we are away from the van. Never take it on long holidays abroad.

Les takes it off the bracket and sits watching it whilst I'm driving, must admit it does block my view on the near side and can be iritating when she has a soap on but what the heck...she's happy!.....

Our TV bracket folds into a dedicated cupboard with a tambour door.

It's just a TV we don't have! LOL

Ours is left on the bracket but with a ball bungee on the swing-arm so it cannot swing out.

Almost a Newbie but not quite now.
We remove ours from the rear of the van and place it on the dash in the centre so I can watch a film or two on those long boring motorway drives.:rolleyes:

We bought a TV for dark evenings on winter holidays. Still haven't used it. There always seems to be too much fun stuff to do.

Ours stays on its bracket and is held tight against the wall with a strap which runs behind the bracket fixing then round the TV itself to keep it in place, I also have a protective cover on the front of the screen to stop the strap marking it and also to avoid accidental scratched to the screen itself.

Made and fitted a bracket to the end cupboard door in our b564 but, as the doors are hollow for weight saving I fitted an aluminium stress plate to the inside of the door to stop the bolts popping through.

Took it for a test run and it was OK in the bracket so it stays there full time now.

When we leave the van we close the blinds and pull the curtains separating cab from hab, but to be honest I would be quite happy if it did get stolen, a recently bought Cello and it is the crappiest TV we have ever owned.
