Dont want massive tv, just a telly so the boss can watch corrie and benders, maybe with cd player for the sprogs.
Any suggestions?

Cello or Ferguson do various 12V 24" TVs with DVD for around the £200 mark. Check they're 12V before buying or you'll have to run them off an inverter when off EHU, which is expensive in battery/noise levels.

We only have room for a small TV (and wouldn’t really choose a much bigger one anyway). Went for a Cello 16” 1080p with DVD player - cost approx £150 (with 12v Adaptor) and just stuck a Fire Stick in the back.

We're looking to buy a TV. Are there any picture issues with the Cello/Ferguson TV's? I hear that viewing is problematic from differing angles.

Or just get a cheap home use 240v TV and limit its use to when you're on EHU?

Do kids know what a CD player is?

No major issues for us with my Cello TV. Yes I would say viewing angles aren’t very good and sound quality is lacking - but we only have a 6m PVC and so when viewing TV we are quite close to it. Picture quality itself is fine - but then a 16” screen isn’t going to be too much of a challenge in that respect.

I certainly wouldn’t be happy to have that quality as my main home TV but as a relatively cheap option for in the van it is fine for us.

The standard ones are not that good but if you buy the Traveller version they are fine.

Think about it carefully before buying one. We bought a tv when we first bought the van 6 years ago. It’s been turned on three times in that six years. Once to try it out. Once to catch a football match and once for the grandkids to watch a dvd. We don’t watch much tv at home and definitely don’t need one when away.
I wouldn’t buy one again.

We have a Avtex TV and sound bar great picture and sound. Also use Firestick/Now TV stick for Netflix etc.
We spend most of the day walking doing stuff so if the weather isn’t great in the evenings the tv gets used for movies/box sets.
Wouldn’t be without it and although quite pricey it gets a fair bit of use.

The info regarding the soundbar connection is a bit scrappy. Does it need it's own power supply or does the TV drive it when bolted on and wired in?

Sound is very good after the very poor Cello we had prior. The soundbar works well but on ours needs to be switched on manually but thereafter is fine for volume adjustment and switch off with the main remote. It's a neat assembly that fits together nicely with a quality picture not angle sensitive. No dangling cables and fits together with preformed bracket and interlinking cables. Worth every penny but does of course depend on how much you'll use it. Combine with a Firestick and tethered mobile for a fine AV solution.

So much stuff runs on 12V even if it is sold for household use.

Both of my TVs are pretty ordinary household TV/CD combos and pretty normal prices. Checking the specs about the power output fom the 240v plug lead, after the inline 'transformer' was 12v.

A trip to Maplins RIP supplied a cigar lighter to the correct size plug into the TV.

I've no idea how much power they draw from the battery but they last three days when I'm wilding.

Sound Bar? One of the TVs has two very small speakers that are rearward facing, even on full volume the TV was hard to hear clearly.

So I bought a small Sound Bar, again 240v but just got a 12v lead made up in Maplins.

Thanks Wannabee, I've just bought a 1Gbps Netgear router to replace the 150Mbps Huawei and have an unlocked Firestick so I think we'll go with the Avtex 21.5 and the soundbar

I've a 24" Avtex (and prior to that had a 21") and found the volume more than sufficient without a soundbar. However, having never had a soundbar (at home or away) am I missing something? It can't be just about volume, could it?

They have more treble & base plus a clearer sound, some will even do 3D surround. Even a really cheap one from China can make a difference, I have one from AliExpress attached to my PC at home which makes a good fist of a 5 hour Bon Jovi playlist.

The living room TV has one too with the addition of a sub woofer.

Hi both tv and sound bar both need power then HDMI cable between TV and sound bar. Having used both I would find it difficult to watch tv without sound bar.

Medion from Aldi is a good deal.
I've looked at that, you're right it is a good TV and great price, with the twin satellite receivers & 1080p resolution. Problem for us is that it's too big at over 23.5 inches due to where the wall mount is fitted in relation to the power & aerial sockets, we'll just about manage a 21.5 and Aldi's is no longer available which is a shame as it had a built in media player allowing downloaded films & TV on an external hard drive to be viewed.
