Dear all,

Just bought our new (to us...) MH and fear I'll be bombarding you with questions... Looking at places to mount the tv, the ideal spot for maximum viewing angles from comfy sofas would be where one of the dinette travel seats is situated (which would only be used whilst travelling)

If I can get a bracket to fit the space, I'm wondering about fixing the tv above the seat on a flip down swivel bracket fixed to the underside of the sturdy above seat lockers. But this would mean the tv, when stowed in the flipped up position for travel, would be immediately above one of the travel seats.

We're all short, so there would be a good bit of head clearance between passenger and flipped up tv, but I'm still a bit nervous about having it there in case of accident etc. I'd probably fit a padded cover or something just for piece of mind, but any thoughts on safety issues with this possibility? Is it it be avoided at all costs? If not, what sort of clearance would you ideally want between seated passenger head and tv, when stowed?

Thanks very much, yet again

Without knowing your van it seems reasonable to mount a TV where you can best see it and where it is strongly fixed to the structure. In an accident a TV - being heavy - could break away from anywhere and become a missile. I would suggest a placement where it would become a hazard to taller occupants may make future sale of the van a bit more difficult.

I suppose there is no real answer other than, if it looks and feels unduly dangerous don't do it.

Hi Sib

If the headrests are removable you could have a bracket that just slides on/off and thus remove and store the TV when travelling such as the below, it would just leave the wall 'slot' part and the whole arm would be removable:

This is the flip-down TV in our camper which resides over the end of the bed, when travelling/not in use it is held in place with straps to ensure it can't move, if I want/need to remove the TV it can be done easily as I've fitted a the quick release plate.

The first van we had was a Carrioca 10.
The TV cupboard (complete with power & TV sockets) with roll front door and slide out shelf was directly above the table and dinette seats.
The ONLY seating in the van was the DINETTE SEATS.
WTF thought that one up.

Even better but would require drilling for TV mount holes. CB radio slide mount.
All TV connections remain connected when removed for storage. Around £10

There is a TV bracket for sale on here now - £18

I always thought a TV would be good hanging from the above-cab cupboard (if you have one), perhaps stored in there one something quite soft.

I'll probably just take a laptop and external DVD drive for the 'Only Fools and Horses' boxed set ;)
