Hi everyone

Going away in August for a few days without electric hookup so need to heat the water using gas. We have an Autosleeper with these control panels:

When I turn the rotary switch to the gas position, a red warning light illuminates. According to the manual this can often merely mean that there could be an airlock somewhere in the gas pipe. Their advice is to wait for 5 minutes then try again. I have tried many times but to no avail ☹

It may be that the gas boiler has not been used for a number of years because I believe that the previous owner only went to sites that had ehu.

Has anyone come across this problem before or have any suggestions for a remedy?

Thanks in anticipation ?
Pat

Yes, Gas bottle valve open and in line tap on ??

no location on your profile but ive got a tried and tested board for an ultrastore if you need to test or replace if localish

Thanks for your offer Mitzimad. We’re over in Bristol so quite a jaunt. I’ll see what I can find out locally first, but will bear you in mind.

Thanks again
Pat
(Nice looking job you’re doing on your van!)

Do you have an external flue cover fitted. If so, remove it(y)

I’ll give it a try Zigisla. I must admit that I was going to leave it on and only remove it if the heater fired up. ?

Our Truma failed on gas last year and it was the bulkhead gas regulator that was on the way out, it would run the hob and fridge, but couldn't supply enough volume of gas to work the water heater.

Is there a window above the flue? Is it shut? The flue cover must be off

Thanks very much for the useful info jockaneezer. My fridge and hob will run but I did think that the pressure at the hob looked a bit weak. It seems like a good avenue to explore.

Much appreciated and thanks again
Pat.

Thanks the Ex-Gasman and Zigisla. I removed the flue cover, turned the control and away it went! Brilliant.???

Thanks too, Mitzimad....I just didn’t realise. Duhhh ?

Great! Glad it's all sorted.

When we bought our caravan I was trying out all the appliances------- when I got to the gas side of the water heater (truma) it wouldn't light------ I just kept trying as it had not been lit for a long time----eventually there was a large and rapid burning of gas!!!!---- the explosion had blown the cover off and smashed it on a brick wall!!!!----- I shall leave it off until I have glued all the bits together!!!!!

Sorry to hear that Sundowners! Hope it glues back together ok ?

I’ve been lucky to avoid doing the same thing maybe? Lucky to be part of a group with great experience in all such things ???
