Truma gas level checker (1 Viewer)

I've just tried out my new Truma gas level checker device on two calor gas lite aluminium cylinders - I know one is full and unused, the other should still have a fair bit in it. However, the only green light reading I get on both of them is near the base of each cylinder. I followed the operating instructions faithfully. I'm interested to learn of other people's experience with this device.

Calor Lite have gauges and I think Truma say somewhere that the gauge mechanisms can interfere with the readings. No personal experience but something I recall from when I was thinking about buying one.
