Living the dream.
Hi guys our Truma gas only boiler will still heat water but when it is supposed to change over to heating there’s a click and the light goes from green to red on the controller.
Any help gratefully received. 🤞

Of course all the lecktrickery connections are facing away from me and I’m not even sure how to get at anything:doh:

Its a 2006 flavour so will I be able to get parts do you think?

I had the same problem turned on and a few seconds later click and the red light came on.

it boiled water on the mains 240;volt ehu but not gas.

done as others said remove outside cover. Make sure gas is turned on and all the other taps are on as well.
check the gas regulator.

it turned out that it just needed cleaning out .

the fact you have a green and red light means the 12 volt system is working so does not need checking.

easy to do if your a bit of a diy er

AND no you do not have to be gas registered to do despite many here saying you do .
The thermocouple and the two ingnition prongs needed cleaning .
and when it all went back together it worked fin3 and I have had no trouble since.

It’s tricky to get to and take apart if that’s the way your happy to go I can tell you step by step how it’s done.

the chances it’s the circut board is slim .

Thanks sonar, it’s gas only so that takes the leccy side out of the equation.
If I get stuck can I give you a shout?

I had a similar problem on one of these turned out to be a dry solder joint on a fuse once I had stripped it down.

You sure can. Mine is at least 19 years old and going strong.

It again is part of the going through one step at a time but for the likes of me it was a visual inspection only.

but there if you want to replace things only. 4 expensive items
circuit board. Complete unit gas burner and ignition. Thermocouple is the cheapest.

but to clean everything has to be the best option.

the board costs about half the price of a new unit alone.

you were very lucky you found out it was a dry joint ..

Badknee. Paul, having been to the factory at Derby for a complete refurbishment of our C6002 boiler, I am surprised that they weren't able to sort it out for you. They gave us another 10 x years on it, which someone else is now receiving the benefits of. ;)

Good luck getting it sorted. (y)

Cheers

Jock. :)

Does it have s fan for the heating? If so does it rotate or is it jammed?

The last time the fan worked it sounded fine Richard. The water is up to temp but before the fan starts the red trip light comes on and it cuts out.

Isn't a red light a sign of a gas problem ? are you sure you have plenty
I think if it senses low pressure it shuts down, even if your oven and hob are still working

It could well be, but it’s heating the water up. I’ll put a new one on tomorrow just in case. 👍

Spoken to a very helpful lady at Truma this morning and she suggested either a pcb fail or an air valve fail. Spare parts of any kind for the 6002 are as rare as rocking horse doo doo. Totally obsolete. Of course I needed a 2nd/3rd4th/ opinion like you do and everyone I spoke to said the same.

So what's the ultimate solution if it's unfixable?
Straight replacement with a current model... or a different solution, is there a diesel option... a log burner?

The factory at Derby told me they didn't do repairs, however, when I emphasized that the boiler not igniting properly with a possible build up of gas causing a danger, they agreed to have it in and have a look. As soon as I described the problem to the 2 x technicians, they new exactly what was wrong. The 4 x electrodes to the burner had burn out completely, (which they showed me), and the flue to the outer wall had cracked. 4 x hours later I was on my way home with a perfectly working boiler. They have a certain amount of spares and complete boilers which they held over, rather than dispose of, but obviously that stock won't last.

Not the same problem as yours Paul I appreciate, but if you can get it in to them under a safety issue ( ;) ) they may be able to sort it.

Cheers,

Jock. :)

We had exactly that, fine on hot water, but fan cuts out as it begins to turn on heating. In our case it was the fan motor that was creating too much resistance, the 12v dropped and the thing cut out. The motor/ fan assembly is under the boiler and had to come out, that's beyond me so our local motorhome guys did it. They sent it to AandR electronics in Stafford who repaired it, the guy is very knowledgable and friendly. It was the only place I could find in the UK and the heating is now fine. I had tried everything before that. BTW I had the PCB tested before I had the boiler taken out, I also changed the regulator.
