Its seem they are rare - very few built towards the end of production

Well that`s our 13th year & still loving it.
The bike looks lovely hope you enjoy it. I sold my 1969 T120 couple of years ago because my leg doesnt like kick start levers. Having said I still have a BSA Gold Star which I carnt start either
Freddiekins
I bet you won't sell the Gold Star, hey you can get an electric start fitted and still enjoy it.

Nice buy,, been thinking along the same lines about getting something retro
my 1500 wing that I’ve owned and ridden for the last 30 years is getting a tad heavy,
so I’ve been thinking of a new royal Enfield
any thoughts ?

From what I’ve heard they are good reliable bikes.

But don’t expect to win any traffic light drag races 😊

I’ve nearly bought one myself, still might, this guy road tests dozens of bikes and ended up buying one himself, which must be a good endorsement.

Yep seen that , the t140 that the op bought would be a contender ,but not sure about 45 year old reliability
apparently a lot of the old triumph staff helped in the design of the RE

I've had a Royal Enfield Continental GT535 for about 4 years and absolutely love her

Only do about 1500 miles a year on it, check tyres regularly, put petrol in it as required and service annually - the first time it needed a service, I was busy prepping my classic race Honda for the Classic TT. So I got the local Enfield dealer to do it - it was less than a hundred quid - they now do it every year!

The later twins have a much better engine, but probably lack the character of my single - plus if I want performance I have a 200+ bhp year old Suzuki GSX-R 1000R

My advice is: There are 7 days in a week – ‘someday’ is not one of them -
Buy the motorbike 🙂

We have a T140D 1979 - I say we as it’s my husband bought it from new and I met him the following year and we spend the next few years with it being our only form of transport. Fond memories of hunting in the gutter for a lolly pop stick to hold the chock open and scrubbing the concrete of oil   . It never mattered how short of money we ever got he never thought to sell her - I used to say he would sell me first.

Goes well in a straight line, compared to what?
My old Blackbird a measly 1100 cc would beat any Harley in a straight line. Standing or rolling start.
Couldn't argue with that.
Probably doesn't look as good though.

And how would you know????:hi5:

The first time I rode mine, I pulled up at the lights and the lady in the car next to me lowered her window and said "that's the most beautiful bike I've ever seen" - true story

That said, I was wearing a very cool gold top leather jacket and my jeans, so maybe she was just covering up the fact she fancied me - especially my cute little bottom..............nah it was the bike that did it 🙂
