Hi Everyone
Im aware of an outdoor table solution and just wondering whether there is a consensus view as to its practicality- it’s a Fiamma tripod that you can use to erect your indoor column based table on, for use outside.
Just wondering if it’s a genuinely good solution or if I’m better bunging a camping table under the bed!

Personally I carry a folding table for outdoors, but then my internal table is permanently fixed to the column. Not sure what it's stability is like.

Having said that, buying a decent folding table isn't cheap so this could be a worthwhile investment.

I've got one to take the end lounge outside and it's fine

The table is a little high but going to cut a inch off it as got a spare table leg

Anything with just three legs will be completely stable. Thee legs means it cannot rock like a four leg pub table ,

Solid laminate is VERY heavy. Also the first layer, the decorative one, is only as durable as a normal kitchen worktop. It will still scratch and be affected by extreme heat. It is impervious to water though.
It's free and it's not like the one in the motorhome is lightweight either, it has the same top as the SGL which will scratch etc yes but the MH one isn't weatherproof and cost how much and I won't be leaving that one in the rain whatever happens

I used to fit this stuff, be very careful attaching the tube base thingy to the underside of your new top, you need to pilot hole for the screws and make sure the pilot holes are slightly longer than the actual screws otherwise the top surface can be forced up like a blister.

Yes that's true, I did that on an old one, made sure they weren't too long on this one (y) ;)
This one was bought off eBay, special ,sort of egg shaped so when it's in it's fixed position in the van you can get round it easier.

Sounds like the watch out here isn’t the tripod itself - perfectly good idea - but if you’re trying to utilise the MH table outside you are in danger of damaging it - weather, rain, outdoor wear and tear?

Personally I'd get a separate table for outside use rather than try to take out your MH one and put it back in again. You don't have to spend a lot on them either, in fact we have a couple of outside tables (only take one with us) and have rarely used either of them as we have folding step/stools instead and use those with trays on our laps for meals, the are similar to the below, 2 small and 1 tall.

Thanks for the great advice! We have several camping tables and while the tripod solution is a nifty one - I think for us a camping table under the bed will do the job. On reflection I think the risk of wear, tear and damage to our shiny new interior tables isn’t worth it 👍🏻

We removed the inside table and store it in our loft at home. In its place we use a table with a tripod both inside and out. Leg and tripod clips in the wardrobe and table top stores under a bed (access from inside and outside) when in transit. We also have a camping stool/table for drinks/snacks so dont get the table out that often.
