We are thinking of driving to Izmir in Turkey to visit my sister who lives there.
Do not want to use any of the ferry routes from Italy (any ferries at al except at Canakkale)
Has anyone any ideas of a good route to take, we have driven via Austria into Slovenia and Croatia so it is info on the rote from there.
We are retired so no rush will take our time and hope to do approx. 250 miles per day !
but, if we find a small likeable place may stay for a few days.
The intension is to be in Turkey for approx. six weeks, visit my sister, head south to Marmaris and Antalya then return possibly by same route but might take a slightly different on depending on any the replies via the forum.
Any help/advice will be much appreciated, btw we are intending to leave around end of August for about 10- 12 weeks.
cheers
