I am planing to go to the NEC show in Oct to look for inspiration and maybe a stocking deal. Don't have a MH yet but have a good idea of the requirements layout wise. It will be my 1st show (apart from the recent disappointing Newark show) so am hoping to see lots of interesting things.

I think I will go via train as its easier for me and was wondering if One day will be enough to see everything at a leisurely pace or would 2 days be worthwhile, I can book a hotel near the venue if anyone has any suggestion for somewhere to stay near the venue.

I can go on the 17th for either 1 or 2 days without taking any time off work as I work Thurs to Sunday, are these good days to attend? When are the best bargains to be found?

Oh, and is it all new vans or are there 2nd hand models on show too?

I will be alone so happy to meet up with any like minded funsters for a chat or cuppa.

Don't do it!!!
Last time we went to the NEC for a look it cost me a fortune.

All those lovely shiny new vans just waiting to drain your bank account. The temptation is just too great sometimes.

Richard.

Not long enough!
If youre seriously looking take 2 days.there are hotels quite close so you can get in the show first thing.
Think its quite busy on sat and sunday. No second hand. Only orders for new and they might have a 6 month delivery time!

We have no plans to spend anything this time  but are planning on going for two days and staying on the temporary C&MC site.

I'm fairly sure it is all new stock on show.

I find that after spending one day there I always think of something I need to return for the next day.

I think it would be worth going for two days. We went for one day in February 2016, just to have a look and draw up a shortlist. We then had a look round a few dealers and went back in October to buy : found we needed two days even then. It's a big and expensive decision and time spent looking and thinking is time well spent.

Can't get the time off work for that one unfortunately - shame as it's only 35 miles from me.

Real shame as i think it would give you a better feel for the various layouts and prices etc.. :(

We are planning to go to the show too. We are looking to buy second hand but want to look at layouts and kitchens to see what works best for us. Really excited that we are finally getting close to buying a MH at long last.

By all means look and try to determine what works best for you, but buy from a dealer near home for when problems arise, as they will even(especially) with new vans, they will sometimes price match, been there, done that, not again though.

We have been looking on this forum and various Facebook pages at all the listings so I don't think that there is a shortage of choice, it's really deciding which layout works best.

Does anyone here know if it is possible to get into the vehicles at the show?

Yes you can get into all except the most expensive which may be by appointment or escorted - would highly recommend respectfully trying the chairs, beds & standing & sitting :giggle: in the bathroom & shower to see how usable it really is. It's a great chance to find what layout works for you. Weekdays are quieter so easier to get around & see more - the weekend can have queues. As the manufacturers normally supply most of the motorhomes for the October launch show there are less restrictions than the February one where it's mostly dealers taking their own display stock.

Everyone that's saying they're looking for a used motorhome, BEWARE! When we started looking our budget was £10,000 - £13,000, then we saw a new one at the Manchester show (an Eldiss if I remember rightly) for about £35,000. Then a dealer said to us that he would never buy a new one (he sold them!), so we started looking at newer used. Guess what, we spent £50,000 on a brand new Pilote. We're going to the NEC but definitely only looking.
