Hi there,
We are planning a trip up the west via coast of Scotland from Yorkshire - where would be a good stop over for us as we can only manage a 3.5 hour journey due to disability. We are heading for Skye but would appreciate any advice and recommendations of where to stay.
Thanks very much
Debbie

If it’s just a quick stopover I’d consider the Green frog at Moffat. Just 5 mins off the motorway. Probably not as much as 3.5 hours from Yorkshire but if you go another hour or so you are hitting glasgow and it will be more difficult to find a stop. There is a caravan club site at Strathclyde park which is also very handy for the motorway.

This is just down the road from where we live and would be a good stop over with stunning views.
There is also the Roundhouse where you can have a bite to eat and see live feed of the Ospreys which have recently come back to their nest.

Another vote for the metal bridge inn but 3 hrs driving would depend where in Yorkshire you are starting from, as suggested Strathclyde park might be another option. It’s 3hrs 20 min from Leeds area.

Would guess Wakefield to Moffat would be around 3 hours.

Probably just shy of 4 hours for Strathclyde Country Park.

Agreed, these are the obvious two options for you. 👍

We always spend our first night at the central carpark in Jedburgh. Great little town with a first chippy or Chinese takeaway

Thank you everyone for your advice. We have booked on the Strathclyde site
Really appreciate all your advice

Another vote for Green Frog at Moffat.
They do a lovely breakfast in the cafe also.
For anyone who stops at Moffat and wants a nice meal, I can recommend Brodies restaurant. We had 2 very nice meals with drinks in the lounge first and coffees etc in the lounge again afterwards, with very fair prices for what we had.

We love it here.

Two options, both amazing.
