We were in Croatia last August, beautiful Country. Didn't go quite as far South as Dubrovnik but only by a few miles. Drove from the North down the coast road beside the Adriatic,,, highly recommended!
Will look up our route to Croatia but it wasn't direct,,,
Watch this space.
Regards James and Angie.

All of it, the country is stunning. Old town is like nothing I have seen. Also if your a Game of Thrones fan, Dubrovnik is also Kings Landing.

I’d recommend a slight detour to visit Plitvice Lakes, spectacular but very busy with the usual plague of day trippers. However, arriving early, following the walking routes in reverse and staying late helps.
There’s also the shall I, shall I not go via Bosnia question to resolve.

In terms of the major journey, I would go Luxembourg (cos i like cheapest fuel) then Germany and over the Glossglockner before heading down to catch the Trieste road. This way you dont have to pay for Austrian Go Box if over 3.5. Admittedly you have to lie about your weight at the glossglockner and pay 30+ euros but you get to spend the day up there admiring wonderful views.
I think you have to go through Bosnia for about 30 miles and that might not be covered for breakdown. You may want to do a search for "bosnia" within the forum for better answers on that one

If you have the time I would recommend Lake Bled, Postojna Caves, The Island of Cres is very nice and the Pula peninsular.
Depends how long the trip is. Split is also very nice, as is most of that area to be honest.

As well as Plitlivce, I would recommend the Krka National Park, on the way South from Plitlivce.
