Anyone using the iNet box + Truma app to control heating and hot water?

Do I need a 'data' SIM or a calls/text sim?

Thanks for any responses - Greg

How embarrassing, first post for ages and end up with Trina instead of Truma courtesy of ''predictive text"!!

Giffgaff normal phone payg sim works fine. It’s only a 2G capable box so needs a network provider which works with that standard (Three sims will not work)

As above, we use a 2g Giffgaff sim while in the UK and a “Free €2 a month“ sim when in France.

Thanks for all replies. It looks like giffgaff is the winner. I'll get one ordered.

Hi
Just had the inet fitted and it’s works great on Bluetooth. I’ve fotted a SIM card and it’s registered on the app , but it doesn’t seem to actually work. It’s a 3 pay as you go.
You said 3 doesn’t work. You are clearly right but I wonder if you know why ?
Looks like to will need to get a different sim , but the 3 one was the best value at 2p per text and no monthly fee. No good of it doesn’t work though !!
Thanks. Russ

My Alde smart will not work with a 3 SIM. Trial and error I found O2 PAYG worked and has done for 3 years. I think it's the fact that it is MTM use.

Just done some digging on the internet.
It seems that the inet box will only work on 2g .
I’ve also discovered that the three network is only 3G and above , so won’t work in a 2 g device.
That explains things, but it is a concern that a brand new inet box comes with very old technology ie 2g only. You do have to wonder how much longer you will be able to use 2g SIM cards.........and then the inet box will be totally useless .
In the meantime the best deal on a 2g payg SIM card seems to be worth o2 , who charge 2p per text.
Giffgaff is 5p per text .

Don't think you need worry about 2G services ending any time soon. The iNet only sends/receives text messages so no requirement for data/3G.

Glad you've got it working. (y)

Nothing to do with data it's the text format, using 2g network for text means the texts are in the older "TEXT" format as opposed to the more modern PCM format.
