Regardless of how many wheels are on the road it needs operational brakes.I tow mine on a trailer but two friends of mine tow them on the ground one with all three wheel on a bar and the other with front wheel in a pocket bolted to van.. as far as I understand if three wheels on road then comes under the steerable front wheel four wheel trailer laws if two wheels on road the normal trailer rules apply. Its a very grey area and none of the authorities I have approached seem to know for certain.

I was told when I was towing mine it had to be on a trailer because it was an automatic... Don't know if that of interest or help. Sorry photo won't download but above is the link.

A BUM trike?? You should have got a decent one Joy.......Yes, Peter it was loved. It was a Boom trike.
That was the reason I was told I couldn't just use an A frame or a Swan tower.
