Travels with Charley (1 Viewer)

Back in 1982, whilst in Antarctica, I read Travels with Charley by John Steinbeck. I was very taken with his tales about travelling round the US in his motorhome. Time went by, I got married and 15 years ago we hired a motorhome and went round the north of Scotland with the children for two weeks. It was the best holiday we have had. We would have bought the motorhome but it was way too expensive for us.

Anyway, the dream never went away and last weekend we took the plunge and agreed a deal on a secondhand MoHo. We pick it up in 8 days. Today I picked up another copy of the book that started it all off and I will relish rereading it on campsites around the country.

That book must have inspired thousands, reading it currently for the 3rd time

I Read the book after reading' Travels with Macy 'by Bruce Fogle who was inspired by Steinbeck to repeat the trip. Good read together with 'A dog abroad' by same author. All books very inspirational especially for Motorhomes with dogs.
