Hi All, I am heading down to southern Italy and aim to kick off from Naples, has anyone stayed around Naples and could you recommend a site that is as close to the city centre as possible.

Thank you so much in advance of your help

Tony

I can recommend a site in Sorrento which is just a few euros of high speed ferry across the bay.

Or Pompeii, a few euros on the train.

Public transport actually works in Italy.

Any advice you can give or recommendations would be really welcome.

Thank you hilldweller

We stayed in International Camping Nube d'Argento right in Sorrento. We loved it. Walk into new town, walk into old town. Ferries to Capri, Naples. We got the train to Pompeii and Herculaneum. Previously we did the circle - Sorrento - Pompeii - Naples - Sorrento, return via ferry.

There is a campsite right outside the gates to Pompeii and next to the railway.

You are giving me the urge typing this, but we're not going that far south this year. Lago di Caldonaza calls.

No problem, I'm just glad you didn't come back with "I SAID NAPLES".

There may well be campsites near to Naples but we have never gone to see Naples, it's quite exciting driving through it. The real downside I remember, we headed towards Vesuvius and we saw more fly tipping than in Morocco.

Sorrento is the spiritual home of Limoncello.
