I've jsut ready a scary article about CalMac ferries and thought I p'dut it out for all the visitors to Scotland;s Western Isles

CalMac ban campervans and caravans from ferry queues - after islanders complained of travel lottery

MOTORHOMES, campervans and caravans are to be banned from standby queues for CalMac sailings around Scotland.

It’s not really the headline grabbing problem it appears to be though is it. The majority that travel to Scotland will never use a ferry so Travelling to Scotland BE AWARE. Is a little over the top in my opinion.

I'd be surprised if that was the case - I've used at least one most times I've visited.

I probably use them more on motorcycle trips than in the van. In fact only used the ferry to, from Harris once in the van as we usually spend time on the west coast.
I still think the headline grabbing title is misleading.

Hmm when you look (as Ive now done) for someone that doesnt post much I dont see anything wrong with the title as it is making others aware of the new rules. Headline has grabbed peoples attention.

In June when we were there the problem was caused by Calmac cutting passenger numbers on each crossing and not adding extra sailings.

Only if they’re going to the islands. Not if they’re just touring the Scottish mainland. The headline implies touring Scotland will be affected. It won’t, as I said just the islands.

I see where your coming from but sometimes we can all be too harsh on seldom posters ( me included) . Sometimes we type first then think later.
