Long enough
We are intending travelling to France in July for a couple of weeks and need Travel Insurance.

I am over 80 and we both have health issues and would, obviously, like to pay as little as possible but still be covered as well as possible.

We are not going to be doing Alpine events or Scuba diving – we will be gently meandering around and staying on Aires.

Quotes I've obtained so far seem quite high, one single trip quote of over £1000, and I hope some of you who are over Pension age might be able to point me in the direction of Insurers with a more sympathetic view of us older ones.

If this has been discussed before could you please point me towards the thread/s ?

Any help appreciated.

Are you a member of CCC or CAMC? I would think you would be able to get insurance through them. A friend of ours got his Red Pennant through CAMC and he was late 80s - no idea how much he paid though.

Are you travelling with Eurotunnel? If so they may well give you a single trip quote.

The other alternative would be to use the Comparison websites and see what comes up!

Sorted my dad out who is 82 , in fact he is currently in Turkey for 2 weeks. Buy the 12mth cover and you get 15mths of cover. I can't recall the cost but it was nothing like £1000 , it was more like 1 or 200 pounds. And over the last year he has had bowel cancer and liver cancer all cleared now but when bought the insurance he told them

Hope this helps

Haven't used them myself but a few people have recommended Insurancewith.com . Apparently better to ring them than do it online.

Thanks for the replies.
I'd originally got a quote from Red Pennant (C&MC) and thought it was a bit high.
Then tried other Insurers and the prices were even higher.
So despite looking at your responses I've bought a Single Trip cover from C&MC – can't see me going over to France any more at those prices.
Add on the AHC for the dog, the fuel price and the Crossing price and it's getting way, way too high for us.
We'll probably pop down the Pub and have laugh and a joke with the Locals ......
