Hello folks, I turned 70 during the winter and my current travel insurance provider won't allow over 35 days for a single trip.

This is a problem for my annual approx 45 day trip to France and Spain Can any of you good people please recommend an insurance company

Hi we're over 70 and are with Staysure, but I can't recall if the overseas cover stretchers to 45 days? Might be worth checking, because they get good reviews and are very reasonably priced.

Perhaps you're already with Staysure - you didn't mention?

Nationwide FlexPlus will, for a fee, extend their cover from 31 to a max of 90 days. Variable charge for interim length of trip. We’re over 70 - works for us.

We still only use the GHIC card.
Essential for basic health cover, but not to be confused with travel insurance, getting you home or other elements such as hospital stays. The GHIC entitles you to the same treatment at state-run hospitals and GPs in the EU that locals are entitled to, at the same cost as locals. In some cases it could be free, but in practice, Europeans pay for most things except emergency care.

I've had two incidents where I would have had to fork out many, many thousands of Euro's had I not had insurance. For me, it's just not worth the risk, but each to their own!
You have been very unlucky.
Had you been skiing?
One in many thousands .

Because we have travelled to the US went with Saga WW cover. Expensive but fitted our needs.

We are already with Staysure, when we enquired about an extention they told us that they could not do insurance for over 70's above 35 days.

We have utilised the insurance package that comes ''free'' with our Nationwide Flex Account.
you can choose options above standard services, eg increase trip extension etc etc.
We have had reason to make a claim and have found them vg.

travel well, travel safely.

That's an incredible price but will the policy arive this year or just get lost in the post?

SAGA for us this year. Again as others said expensive but because I reported prostate Cancer 4.5 years ago. Later this year rates should decrease.

Nationwide FlexPlus for us. £13 per month, for the 2 of us, gives us annual breakdown cover (UK & EU), health cover, mobile device cover and, for £65, over 70 age extension health cover. We extended our health cover to 90 days for £129 (Worldwide inc USA). £350 for annual breakdown and health cover for 2 people (one of us over 70) I think is excellent! As to MH insurance :punch:!!! :coolest:

My partner is a very fit 83 years but looks early 70’s. I am 76. On reaching 80, his Bank would no longer give him insurance cover. We then took the chance but, having just returned from France in September, out of the blue, he had a major heart attack😩. In April, we wanted to go on a package holiday. First looked at Staysure. Read their 1 star reviews when people have needed to claim😡. Staysure bought out Avanti so under same umbrella. Went with Tesco in end. You have to give insurance companies details of EVERY time you saw or spoke to your GP for past 5 years. Woe betide if you forget anything, it will give them excuse to not pay your claim. Shuttle do an insurance. If you are over a certain age, you just have to have a letter from your GP stating you are fit to travel. The insurance covers for the duration of your trip so, presumably, up to 3 months. Last time I looked it was £169 for both of us😁.

Can only get the shuttle insurance when booking a crossing. Was a cheap deal annually before age 70 but can only get cover for single trip.
