I’ve never bothered with travel insurance before, as we’ve only travelled in the U.K. or to visit parents, and to be honest, I hadn’t really thought about it. I’ve been quoted £142 by the AA to get breakdown cover (only) for our France/Switzerland/Italy trip this summer, but I’ve noticed that my bank (Barclays) does a 'travel pack' for £12.50 a month. This includes breakdown, luggage/possessions, 12 hour plus delays and medical, repatriation and cancellation insurance. You have to keep it for six months, which makes it £75. This sounds like good value, if it’s decent insurance, as it will cover other holidays within that time.
Has anyone used Barclays insurance? Are they any good if you have to call them out/claim? Any glaring deficiencies in cover that any one knows about?
(I’m aware you are restricted to 31 days abroad in one go (not an issue) and not covered for trips of less than two days or which don’t start or end in the U.K)
