We are back in Tasmania after 18 months around Europe and have decided to ship our motorhome to continue the adventure with us here in Australia. A friend was going to drive the MH from where it is stored near Leicester to the port in Southampton, but she has just injured her neck and out of any driving action :(
Can anyone suggest anyone who does transporting to Southampton - on a truck or driving? We were quoted 680 pounds by the shipping company - I could fly from Australia to do it myself for less than that!
Many thanks
Robert

Well if you are in no hurry I can help from March onward. I regularly drop vehicles at the docks for shipping because of my last employment, which was exporting cars for military personnel.

I could easily pick up from the Oxford area, all we need is for someone to drive it from Leicester to Oxford which is roughly half way.

I'd happily do the Southern part for the cost of the fuel and lunch for me and my return driver.

Thanks for the offer. Unfortunately it's already booked onto the ship, so needs to be there around the 20th Feb.

I used to transport vehicles for a living and if it is going on a dedicated transporter the price is not far off. You can of course get it done a lot cheaper as there are loads of people say they are transport specialists. If you do go for cheap it might still arrive, or at least most of it, it all depends on value. Incidentally Southampton docks are a law unto themselves and can be helpful or downright obstructive.

You could offer Funsters money to do the job and put them on your insurance.

Sounds like a good idea Sidney. Thanks for the heads up about Southampton docks, Ranger.

I live in Leicester but would be struggling to do it that soon off work tomorrow but then working until the weekend. If you have alternative dates get in touch and will see if I can help normally free at the start of the week. I wouldn't want any pay but would need to be put on your insurance pay for the diesel and have some way of getting back.

Ha ha, sounds like they train the docks around Manchester (train for Southampton docks) and Liverpool
