Hi Transit based owners.

I help people by making helpful 3D printed items for Motorhomes, and it has come to my attention that the MK8 transits have an issue with water ingress into their engine bay’s. I am looking for any transit owners that live in the Hertfordshire area who would be willing to let me take measurements on their van and be a guinea pig to try and resolve this problem. If you are. Please let me know.
Cheers

Hello, I have one but live in Northamptonshire. I did see something about a guy who was making plastic trays to fit above the injectors to solve this problem but cannot remember details.
if you sort something out I would be interested.

I’m trying to make something that’s not as bulky as the big metal tray. I propose to make deflector seals to go around the wiper spindles which should reduce the initial flow substantially, and then a small deflector attached to the wiper mechanism to deal with any remaining water that gets through. Here’s some pictures of the first line of defence that I’ve made for Fiats. The Ford ones would be the same but obviously different dimensions. I need a transit to test these and also to work from to design the second line of defence under the scuttle.

If you get no replies, let me know as I could come to you.
We have to come to Nottingham at the end of the week to pick up a bicycle if it’s ready. Could stop by . Will let you know before we come to see if it works for you. 👍

Hi there.
No sorry. Still need a transit owner fully clued in where the leaks are exactly, to come forward for me to use as a guinea pig. I need something physical to work from.

Cheers PaulandChrissy

I might be able to help you with this, I’ve recently purchased a 2015 Ford Tourneo with the intention of converting it to a camper but want to iron out some common issues , currently being water ingress in two areas , might be more that I’m not aware of yet but the common one appears to be water leaking onto the injectors and the ecu , I don’t live too far from you so if this is still of interest to you then please contact me and we can go from there .
Thanks
John

Hi John
Have sent you a PM to arrange a meet up.

👍. PaulandChrissy.

Keep the updates coming. What years of transit does this apply to?
Not sure, but if someone with first hand knowledge can jump in with some more info on model years and more info on where all the leaks are, i will try to make remedies for all of them.

I know of 2 people who have had the water ingress on the injector. The bottom seal on the windscreen was not sealed properly and water was getting on the injectors on both vans. Try a running kettle of water over windscreen.

Just replied , my van is a late 2015, I’ve a good idea on the leaks which effect the injectors and also the ecu .
From what I can see this water issue seems to cover mk7 & mk8 transits , could be more but I’m no expert just looking to solve my own issues on my mk8
